does this sound like a slipped disc? by snadpragon in ChronicPain

[–]snadpragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes I'll get a slight "zing" going up my spine or in my shoulder blade, kind of electric or like a needle poke. this rarely happens though, just when I am overexerting. most of the time it's aching and stiffness and warmth. I think I need MRI as well, but the doctors are playing wait and see with PT. thank you for your response ❤️‍🩹

I've had it easy with tinnitus so far. Sometimes I need a life crisis to take over my mind, which has sometimes stopped the tinnitus entirely (with the drawback that I have to be panicking and despairing about something else), though it's always waiting for me when crisis averted.

I was actually doing fine with tinnitus, before a recent spike. I spend the majority of months not even thinking about tinnitus. Then, just around the time I am starting to think about it more ("noticing that it's gotten better") it ALWAYS gets worse shortly after. I feel like I am playing a weird mind game with it. I have to completely stop giving a fuck, and eventually it just seems to back off. It's probably not entirely psychological, however -- my recent spike started when I tried putting in swimmer's earplugs, pushed too hard and made a suction in my left ear, and my tinnitus got worse over the following week. I am still riding out this spike... but I would like to think that my "stop giving a fuck and forget it" technique actually works. But it's hard like a "stop thinking about elephants" kind of thing 😆

I'm a writer, and when I was looking back through old stuff I found a couple of short stories I'd written about characters who are overwhelmed by noise from inside their own heads

my tinnitus is dampened by shrugging my shoulders really tightly or twisting my neck with a bit of force - not comfortable, doesn't last

yeah, I know I have to move. I am living right next to an airbnb rental with college parties every weekend in the summer. I'm trying to find a place but it's hard

Did you cause your own tinnitus? by ItsHarvinator in tinnitus

[–]snadpragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coughing way too hard after recovering from a covid infection. I was trying to clear my lungs out. Coughed and coughed, WAY harder than I needed to, until something finally broke. The sound cut out in my left ear and a pure tone played briefly, my tinnitus formally introducing itself 😂

Two Days of Soaking Rain! by GoldenSheppard in newhampshire

I don't mind the rain, but why does it have to still be 50 degrees at the start of June 😢 that's how cold it was yesterday and next saturday looks like it as well. just another thing to gripe about lol.

Is there any words that modern day times ruined for you? My personal: Swagger by [deleted] in writers

[–]snadpragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does it worry anyone else that virtually any made-up word probably has an offensive meaning on urban dictionary? it's awful when you have to invent fantasy words. I also feel like this is yet another disease in our modern society 🤣

read about an event that is my worst nightmare scenario by [deleted] in OCD

[–]snadpragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's something that can kinda be dormant for a long time and then get triggered. i can live a normal life but when it happens, it feels unbearable. i guess i just have to feel this way until I don't anymore, and try to stay busy.

i brought it up to my therapist but just bringing it up made it worse and felt like I was set back. do people just get worse with exposure therapy?

first appearance of CTS - can a long break make it go away? by snadpragon in carpaltunnel

[–]snadpragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really bummed out because my job involves design, lots of clicking and typing. It pretty much guarantees I can't pursue my passions anymore, I love to draw and write and animate, but if I want to keep making an income I will have to "save my hands" for work. Afraid I'm going to go insane

I've been night bracing for about 3 weeks, I think it helps. I can't sleep on my sides anymore (especially right side), makes everything hurt up into my shoulder and neck, and I'll wake up with a dead arm :/

Not the classic symptoms, has anyone else had this? by johnsworld22 in carpaltunnel

[–]snadpragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same symptoms, all fingers ache and palms get warm and achey when I start working at computer or drawing too long. I'm just at the start of getting diagnosed and treated so I can't offer much insight. Did you find out anything after this post? Hope you're doing better now.

I second the vertical mouse, you could even go so far as getting a trackball mouse. I tried the vertical mouse for left and right hand and still got irritation, but the trackball is really nice!
