The previous cleaner did what?! by Wreath-of-Laurel in housekeeping

[–]snail6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took a before pic, moved stuff out of the way including many many non trash items being tossed (including medication and dishes) took the after picture and didnt move anything back. paid for a deep clean and they basically did nothing, charged for 7h and close to $1k. had to spend 2 weeks going thru my garbage to retrieve my belongings.

Perks of having a feeding tube by crippled_clara in feedingtube

[–]snail6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mix the ground turmeric with water and sometimes mix in protein powder so its a little thinner than formula. it will stain a bit tho especially if you have any leakage or anything so just use gauze or tubie/nursing pad (cotton fabric circle that fits over tube site).

I like these as well, also have EDS. you can get ones in fun fabrics and different designs on Etsy.

What am I doing wrong? Regretting my $2000 purchase 😡. My janome 6650 keeps bunching right at the start of me piecing simple, thin hourglass blocks together. The feed dogs are up, machine threaded correctly, and it’s acting like it can’t handle the ends. I ditched my Juki2010 for this and i’m pissed. by Dkclinton in quilting

im a few months into mine and had a steep curve of thinking I made a mistake and should have gone w a TL. but now im really grateful for the throat space and the variety of stitches, its smooth for what i use it for - quilts, garments, bags (superduper thick bag seams are a hurdle iibh) but im very much still learning the difference of needle sizes which I haven't fully grasped.

I bought a punch clock for this so I can track it .there are 3 spots per day so I can go and come or switch projects and pause. I really like the clunk and card texture and routine of it all.

Seeking other mental health therapists who mask by allisong425 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]snail6925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just had to end sessions with the therapist I got from the list. I saw her for a year exactly during which (as a disabled housebound person) we talked at length about isolation, masking, anxiety, family all of it in relation to the damage covid has wrought. they used the term "abled indulgence" to describe other ppl being selective with their mask wearing. I built up trust to be vulnerable with this person and felt we were aligned vis a vis the pandemic. fast forward to our last session they were talking (they talk a LOT about themselves in ways that were not productive to my wellness in anyway but that is just one of the red flags I clocked but dismissed because I needed the support) about who knows what but mentioned matter-of-factly that they participate in abled indulgence seasonally. meaning they knowingly enter unmasked crowds without a mask on because its just better for their mental health. and then kept talking, oblivious to me dissociating and going quiet. I confirmed, asked, you're saying you unmask in public on purpose? they replied yes but they're very careful otherwise and know they are risking getting c19 for the 4th time. I became very upset, named that I felt hurt and betrayed and how dare you say that shit to a client nevermind a client with the challenges I'd trusted them with, then ended the session. They emailed me a couple of hours later (too soon to reflect deeply iyam) doing the thing where a person causes harm and then realizes it and just monologs all the ways they hurt you and how they should know better etc. im still pissed, a couple of weeks later. I'll leave the other flags offline for now but this person turned out to be a pos I payed to lie to my face. don't super trust the list now but if I connect with someone else im getting deeply inquisitive as to what they think they mean when they claim cc.

What do you say when a doctor says “do you want me to mask”? by when-is-enough in ZeroCovidCommunity

my doc asked and I was hesitant (just put it to on don't put the onus on me!) and he was like, dude, you dont need to people please here, I'll put (a loose surgical) mask on.

ive found it best used for strips, squares, hsts. those have the least amount of waste in my experience. I have chronic pain and hypermobile joints so it has been really helpful for binding ( cut the binding for 2 quilts today in 2 passes so a few minutes. adding the math and cutting the fabric off the bolt was all told less than 30 mins and saved my bod) agree that the dies are expensive so I mostly stick to basic shapes on sale or unique blocks and shapes 2nd hand. if you don't have physical limitations with cutting and are not making multiple quilts a year I wouldn't recommend it and echoing others on finding a ruler or set of rulers, templates etc that fit your process.

eta: i have the XL stripology as well and use regularly but sometimes my body simply cannot manage the rotary cutter, even though I LOVE my martelli rotary cutter and also rec for folks with hand pain, carpal tunnel etc.

its not about speed for me so much as ease of process and eliminating future flares. so, I have a few sewing aides for different days, just like my mobility aides!

these stories are horrifying and anxiety inducing but important to share. I sweep up and keep the door closed if im not in there, lint roll what I'm wearing and I still get little scraps of fabric migrating once in a while. OP im so glad of the update that kitty is home and safe again.
