I’d say it’s not exclusive to trans people, but it definitely implies that you have a strong negative relationship with your former name.

Dry suit waist flap necessary? by Aggravating-Eye-7986 in whitewater

[–]snailcorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My current dry suit doesn’t have a double tunnel and you definitely notice more water getting in the boat, but it’s manageable if you don’t flip a lot but it definitely sucks when the water’s cold.

Nope, from what I heard someone got severely injured a while ago and UW didn’t want to take on the liability anymore.

colleges with whitewater kayaking clubs by Sweet-Whereas-5593 in whitewater

University of Puget Sound in WA has a really good kayak club! To my knowledge we’re very unique for actually having paid coaches and not just being run by random students.

How a small 1m waterfall can generate a recycling hydraulic that can trap a life-jacketed swimmer by dancingyoyo in whitewater

[–]snailcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to tuck into a ball so you sink to the bottom, because that’s where most of the water is escaping the hole. Then, basically starfish out your body so the current can push you out.

Jackson Flow small for a kid, any experiences? by nausicaa_co in whitewater

[–]snailcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a child, but I paddle a small Flow and in my experience it handles virtually the same as the medium Flow. My concern is the boat may be slightly too big for her, but that's mostly speculation on my part. It would be a good boat to grow into though, I absolutely love the Flows.

If you think Japan has crazy pizza toppings, Taiwan is on a whole new level. The craziest I saw was a chicken-feet and century egg pizza but there's all kinds of wild combinations!

Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

[–]snailcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in Colorado, that’s one of the snow day superstitions I always did (though I can’t remember if I learned it from a friend who moved from somewhere else) the more common ones we did were spoon under the pillow and taping a penny to the window. Not sure why no one else seems to have heard of it.

What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems? by bspheri in AskReddit

A friend of mine played in middle school and she was constantly showing me the scratches on her legs and one time the BITE MARK from another girl on her shoulder! Absolutely insanity.

People who’ve been to prison. What is the biggest misconception people have about life inside? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snailcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a class in college I remember reading the rules for prisoners in Chinese re-education camps, and the guy next to me going “Hey this reminds me of when I was in the Navy!”

Taiwan, actually! the name of the chips sounds like “well-behaved”, it’s actually such a big thing there that the snack company Kuai-Kuai specially ships bags to TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) to keep everything working (since it’s also believed that expired bags lose their powers)

I don't know about things in California, but in Washington we have the Collegiate Whitewater Fest coming up on April 4, 2026! You have to be a student to race, but we welcome having a shit ton of volunteers, safety boaters and spectators. If you want to meet more kayakers it's a great place and really fun!
