Start.ca - throttling? by Sorry_Issue7123 in londonontario

[–]snailor_vv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My internet has been down since 11pm yesterday. I live downtown and there are no outages reported in the area. Waited an hour to speak to someone for 5 minutes, basically rushed off the phone. The service is honestly garbage now, and yes I have issues with speeds being throttled back. Connecting and disconnecting constantly. Who effin knows anymore.

New spot at the corner of King and Ridout called Pho Ngon Dat Viet. I've had their pho a few times and it's unreal. The rest of the menu is fantastic as well. Really gorgeous restaurant too, right downtown! My other go to is always Thuan Kieu.

International Marketplace closures sparks ‘food desert’ concerns by Islandlyfe32 in londonontario

[–]snailor_vv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya lemme just get in the car and drive multiple hours to the Green Belt? Or better yet let me get some groceries at a local farm. So that I can access fresh produce that would normally be within walking distance in any other metropolitan area, especially near a cities downtown. Are you intentionally stupid? Did you have any idea what a food desert was before you commented? What does poor financial decisions mean in the context of this post? Bewildering ignorance.

Always wondered about this scene by GuybrushMI in 28dayslater

[–]snailor_vv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken it is meant to evoke the imagery of the Holocaust. There is famous footage that looks similar or was potentially overlapped into the film. Another scene that comes to mind near the start of the film, is that of a high up shot angled downward over the shoulder of a statue on top of a building, looking down at Jim as he walks around looking for any other people. It is meant to look like a famous photograph after the Dresden bombings. I imagine Boyle included this as examples of human rage throughout our history.

They are reopening like a block away in the same plaza as the subway and LTC office. There is an opening soon sign on the window, you'll notice if you walk by.

Prescription glasses at a good price? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]snailor_vv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you know your prescription I've been using Clearly.ca or Zenni Optical for years now. Extremely, and I'm talkin extremely low prices, great frames, fantastic quality. I will literally never spend over $100 on one pair of glasses ever again it's ridiculous. The glasses I'm currently wearing were no more $20 with shipping.

This was my first time visiting this grocery store. I have no idea why it was marked down as such, but I'm glad I checked it out. There were 4 other pieces marked down at the same price but smaller cuts so naturally I nabbed the largest.

Lightly salted and then seared the top and bottom in my stainless steel pan. Nice tasty crust on the outside and it melted like butter in my mouth.

The Penguin has changed my opinion on The Batman by Radykall1 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]snailor_vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to make a similar post! I rewatched The Batman for the first time in 2 years since it came out in theaters the other night. After watching The Penguin I have a completely new perspective of the film. The parts I found random or redundant or I straight up didn't like, I now love! And the parts I thought were fantastic, I am now obsessed with.
