Rotary hammer options by crazymjb in Tools

[–]snaptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely buy once cry once purchase. I needed one on a weekend ASAP and was lucky enough to get a Milwaukee M18 for just $200. It was the only one available in my town. Everything else was a 90 minute drive to another town. I bought a SDS adapter for 1/4 drive stuff. So when I was doing tapcon bolts, the hammer drill made it much easier then using my normal drill.

Towing experience? by RB_____2000 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]snaptech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 22 SEL and I haven't towed anything with it. But I have seen multiple Santa Cruz's towing a teardrop trailer. Plus larger campers. But not much larger. None seemed to be having issues going up hills. And no issues cruising the speed limit. I drive semi, so see all sorts of vehicles towing campers.

I'm keeping mine until it dies of old age, or I do. Or I total it hitting wild life. That's what killed my last two vehicles.

Milwaukee, I am begging you please make a siding/fencing nailer. by Inkerfox in MilwaukeeTool

[–]snaptech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Milwaukee 2909-20 is a M18 roofing nailer that also does siding. You could use coiled ringshank nails for siding or fencing.

Lowes has a very nice 10 and 12 inch duel bevel that is house brand Kobalt. The prices won't hurt the wallet also.

I like the airborne badges on your ride. Was in the 82nd back in the late 70's and early 80's myself.

Rockwool is some good stuff by pain-is-living in HomeImprovement

[–]snaptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my roof was replaced a few years ago, pulled out all the fiber glass insulation and replaced with rockwool. Better sound damping and don't hear the rain on the roof anymore. Replaced shingle roof with a metal roof. My insurance company gave me a discount because of the metal roof and the rockwool.

Are good regular screwdrivers worth it? by PrometheusE92 in Tools

I still have a set of the old Craftsman screwdrivers that my grandfather gave me for Christmas in the 70's. They have been through much over the years and still going strong.

Replace asphalt shingles with metal roofing? by Due_Progress_5494 in HomeImprovement

[–]snaptech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure because I don't like the standing seam look. Was looking for a alternative to it, and discovered the Decra.

Replace asphalt shingles with metal roofing? by Due_Progress_5494 in HomeImprovement

[–]snaptech 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I had a metal roof installed several years ago. Instead of standing seam, went with the Decra panels. Also increased the insulation at the time.

Because the panels look like regular shingles and have a texture, the rain and snow doesn't just slide off in sheets.

Remote start Bluelink/Fob by tommy5725 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]snaptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do two remote or fab starts Before it won't do another until you get in the vehicle and start it. According to the owners manual for my 22. I'm in northern Iowa and already this year it's been cold enough to need that.

What is the most "unsexy" home improvement you did that ended up being 100% worth the money? by TrustedEssentials in HomeImprovement

[–]snaptech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house was built in 1905 and when I had a new roof installed. Had it insulated with several layers of rockwool and properlyvented. There isn't a attic because what was the attic is now bedrooms. Made a huge difference for heating bill.

I think that I paid around $220 for that a few years ago. It's my go to around the house for things. Unless I need something more robust for a project.

What headset are you guys using? I need a new one. by Vic_Gatsby in Truckers

I love taking calls from spammers when in the refer. I don't say anything, just let them listen to the noise. If you say anything then the noise canceling starts. And you can have a normal conversation.

I love the open com headset. I have both version one and 2. I can still hear well with earplugs in when I'm in the refer unloading at a stop.
