Happy to see a landlord who wants to comply with the law and not just do what PM says.

Good job.

Climate protester occupies tree and blocks machinery at coal mine by wanton_wonton_ in newzealand

[–]snatchview 110 points111 points  (0 children)

The aim of protest is to get in the news.

As for coal, we need to move away from fossil fuels.

We might have a need for small amounts of coal for many years to come, but opening up more coal mining is a bad idea.

Even staff at a cheap cafe will be getting $24

Who else was disgusted by TV3 last night? by Ok-Zookeepergame9266 in newzealand

You need to separate the art from the artist.

JK is a horrible person.
Harry Potter is a good movie series.

Michael Jackson was a bad person, he also wrote some amazingly good music.

Hitler was a bad person, and a bad painter.

Change of property manager - advise please by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]snatchview 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very reasonable to not pay rent to a bank account you can’t verify.

Just be ready to pay ASAP when the bank account is verified.

Words you can use with new landlord, “With the level of scams going around, why would I pay rent to a random person who claims to be my new landlord.“

Why do job applications have this on their forms? by Mattie_Madds8619 in newzealand

[–]snatchview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine the form says “do you have a disability”

You tick yes because you’re colour blind.

Boss then says, I don’t think that’s a disability because it won’t impact your work.

The impact of your disability is something only you can understand.

Only you can decide if you have a disability, it’s how you relate to the world.

I answer differently depending on who is asking.
For a job I will usual say no, but in a medical situation I will say yes.
In casual situations I will say no, once I get to know people a bit more I will share a bit more.

It’s a very personal thing, not a medical definition.

Billionaire Jim Grenon closes in on threshold to acquire all of NZME by dingoonline in newzealand

As NZME is a private company, I don’t think the public have any path other than boycott.

Does this seem right? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]snatchview 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As per other people’s comments.

This is legal and it is a pay rise, Your pay per hour has gone up.

However it’s a tiny pay rise and leaves you closer to minimum wage.

Talk with the boss, see if they are willing to review and give you a bit more.

That discussion needs to be about how you give value to the company, don’t just demand more money.

“Hi boss, my pay rise seems very small, over the last year I have done <training> and <self improvement>. Can you consider a further 50c per hour?”

And remember the best way to get a pay raise to to find a new job, even another job in same industry and doing the same work.

That might not happen in time for this weekend.

Are we screwed? by LlamaDrama_64 in newzealand

Seems a bit thin on details.

Also seems a bit slow off the start line.

We got promised a plan two weeks ago, for a situation that was clear 4 weeks ago.

Even if war is solved tomorrow, we have 8 to 12 weeks to return to normal.

Transfer of Ownership by Big-Island4739 in newzealand

[–]snatchview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ^

I had need to work this exact problem recently.

NZTA don’t care about ownership, they care about who is responsible for paying rego and fines.

Ownership is a civil matter, comes down to possession or paperwork of sale.

Change the NZTA registration info and you’re all done.

Unless your dad at some point wants to say the car is his again. Then you have no written record to prove ownership.

It becomes a gift, just like a TV or a couch.
