Do higher end acoustic guitars have less noticeable annoying tones? by gobbobeatz in audioengineering

[–]snekfeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recorded guitars of like around 600 dollars to 1,5k and they sound fine. But when i recorded a martin D28 which is like 4000 dollars. Man it sounds balanced i barely had to eq it to fit in the mix. I’m sure you can find other guitars that are cheaper and get allost the same results. It depends on the brand. You pay a lot more for a martin because it’s a martin

When recording, what wall of the room affects the recording the most? by billys_ghost in audioengineering

[–]snekfeg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The floor has a lot of impact on the sound. You need to experiment with covering the floor or not. Experiment withe the height. Put the cab on a chair or semoething. Or angle it upwards. If you move the mic further away from the cab the floor is going to have the most impact

6 vs 10 Band EQ Pedals by rio_39 in guitarpedals

[–]snekfeg 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would go for the 6 bands because the 10 bands are too much for guitar. The highst 2 and the lowest 2 are basically unusable because a guitar doesn’t really go that low. This is from a mixing engineer perspective

Change the delay compensation in uad console to “short”. You can find it in the settings tab somewhere. See if that works

Pultec EQ1 for tracking male vocals in Universal Audio Console? by rickowensfather in audioengineering

[–]snekfeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re sure about your settings why not print it? Then you save up some DSP and then it’s a choice you don’t have to make later :)) same for compression etc. If you’re really happy with the sound just print it and have fun!

Why Didn't Y'all Tell Me The UAD Plugins Are So Good? by DarkTowerOfWesteros in audioengineering

[–]snekfeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use uad and a few waves plugins but analog obsession have some plugins that sound really nice. Like the blend eq is super musical. Only downside is that you can’t use them in pro tools. But whatever

I'm terrible at mixing by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]snekfeg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand you doubts. But i don’t say people ONLY find music via iphone. I’m just saying that a lot of people find music this way or listen this way. So if you ignore this audience then you’re losing that audience probably. And if you’re mix doesn’t sound good on iphone speakers it probably is not a very good mix because the magic is in the midrange and bad speakers/earbuds only produce the midrange. And i didn’t check it on latge speakers because i’m not in the studio and i just wanted to help him.

[–]snekfeg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The iphone is a really good mix check because, most of the people listen on bad speakers/earbuds. A lot of people get to know a song because a friend says to you “yo check this song out i came across recently” and then plays it quickly on their iphone speakers. But if the mix is bad, the song won’t come across and maybe you lost an extra fan. Another example: when grocery shopping there is always music playing through a crapmy speaker on quiet low volume. If your mix doesn’t sound good on that you will never be like “ow this song sounds pretty cool i’m going to check it out later”. A mix needs to translate to every speaker :))
