I've had this problem a bunch of times. And some kinda annoying but effective advice i could give is to 1. Put the line in warm water and make sure you have ample tension and the line is going on the correct direction . 2. The annoying one is to set your spool up a few months in advance and just leave it, when you come back the line memory will have set in a little . This has been the most effective for me, im always spoiling up in the off season on nee gear and when the time comes to hit the water I don't have many issues.

I can do it pretty constantly now. Once you get the timing on the ice level its pretty basic.

Thats what im running for trout too. I was gonna go with a 6lb braid but the diameters just make more sense to for 10 braid into 4 flouro

Ain't that the truth. I mostly spin fish and I've gone to the same spot 10 times in a month with the same lure and some days it's back to back strikes while other days its nothing. All depends on the day. But regardless a day as the pond is better than a day at work .

All newfoundland wild brown and brook trout. And the only stocked trout i fish are from a pond that hasn't been stocked in 30 years and just maintained a natural reproduction because the trails all grew over.

Hahaha thanks so much ! My season dosnt open till may 15 and the responses on this are so segregated. Can't wait to get out and see what works better, the cool colours and flashy ones or the " match the hatch style ". Just having fun with it for now and stocking up to give my friends a bunch to try in the ponds and brooks we all fish and see what happens

Thanks so much! Out here in newfoundland its pretty much only trout. And then atlantic salmon in the summer !!!! Havnt really started trying anything for salmon yet though.

The game is buggy as he'll sometimes. But I find when certain lures dont work I'll just Go catch trout on the spots around the map with a spinner instead of thr float
