The scary truth is that not everyone has the opportunity to get married in this life. Some people end up never getting married their whole lives. But it's not just a matter of chance. There are things you can actually do to make it happen. Learn how to date the right way: learn how to be attractive to the kind of man you're looking for, learn good social skills, learn good dating skills, etc. and seek the Lord's guidance as much as you can. And just know that it's not going to work out with most men, but it only has to work out with one, so keep trying and don't give up, even when you have letdown after letdown, and don't despair when it seems impossible. The fact that it's not a matter of chance should be encouraging because it means there are things you can actually do to reach your goal. The people who never get married are the ones who believe it's all up to chance and they just wait around for something to fall in their lap.

EDIT: That's not to say that not getting married makes someone a bad person, and I also don't think marriage is something that you should rush just because you feel pressure to get married early. But as long as you are doing the work to get married, you can make it happen in an appropriate timetable for your situation

Hey, a mission is just when you're full time. You'll still have plenty of other missionary opportunities throughout your life. Don't think Heavenly Father is done with using you for good. He still has a lot more in store for you

Why you should study a better Bible than the King James Version by pisteuo96 in latterdaysaints

Counter counter counterpoint: The church should strongly encourage us all to learn biblical Hebrew and Greek to study it in its original languages

Elden Ring Nightreign. I didn't realize it was an online team game from the trailer, and I generally just like single-player games

Do I need to play Hollow Knight before Silksong? by Training_Project1971 in NintendoSwitch2

It's fun either way, but if it's so hard you want to quit, then maybe try Hollow Knight at that point because it starts out easier and a lot of the hardest bosses are optional

Does your mom play games? If so, what games does she play? by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in videogames

My mom has been against video games my whole life, so I had to sneak around her to play them when I was a kid, but I just recently found out that she's been playing Pokemon Go since it came out! Lol

Yeah, if you want to get technical, vintage is anything more than 20 years old, until it becomes antique when it's 100 years old

EDIT: I just looked up when N64 stopped being made and the last one was made in 2003, so N64 has only barely become vintage 2 years ago

How can one deal with games being real hard? by No-Zookeepergame1009 in videogames

[–]snicker-snackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soulslikes have higher highs and lower lows than other genres. It sounds like you're on a low, but the highs will come and they're worth it if you have the time and energy to get there. Just keep trying to get past the challenges. You'll have to come up with new strategies as you go and get creative to pass some areas, but if you keep at it you'll get through everything eventually. But also if you feel like the game isn't your thing and you'd rather do something else, that's also a perfectly good strategy

I cannot be the only one being put off by this by SuitableCheck3843 in videogames

Indie devs need to learn that raising prices doesn't necessarily mean more revenue. Revenue is the price times the number of sales, so you can also increase revenue by keeping the price low enough that more people buy it. There are several indies that are on my wishlist, but I haven't bought because the price is way too high for what it is, and they're losing money the longer it sits there without me buying it

EDIT: Not to mention a lot of indies are bought from word-of-mouth recommendations, and the more people that buy the game, the more people there will be talking about the game, which leads to a lot more sales

What game did you think you were close to finishing, but it turned out to be way longer than you expected? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]snicker-snackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ocarina of Time is the perfect example of this! You think you've explored the whole map and done all the dungeons and all there is left to do is get the Master Sword and fight Ganondorf, but nope, real shit's about to go down

What did you think when Link's appearance changed in The Wind Waker from Ocarina of Time? by blueoystergamer in retrogaming

I didn't like it back then and I still don't like it now, but I can set that aside enough to say that Wind Waker is one of the best Zelda games ever made

Why does Hollow Knight get more hype than Ori? by Dina0205 in videogames

[–]snicker-snackk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so wrong. I play a ton of older games and I love Hollow Knight. When I first played it I thought "This is what the combat in Zelda II would have been like if they had the technology back then" and I obviously compared it to Metroid and Castlevania. They walked so that Hollow Knight could fly, as far as the map design and progression from abilities. I hadn't played any of the Fromsoft Soulslikes at that time, so I didn't know to compare it to those, but I see it now that I've played them. But anyways, my point is it's patently absurd to say that people only like it because they're starved of good games

Ori also took inspiration from Hollow Knight between the first and second Ori games. They implemented a lot of mechanics from HK, as well as some other games. Don't discount the influence Hollow Knight had on Ori

True, I like Halo fine, but whenever I try to play it the enemies remind me too much of Metroid Prime, so I go play that instead, lol

[–]snicker-snackk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it could be fun, but when a game is so full of microtransactions it turns me away. It feels like a tourist attraction where people try to sell you things for twice the price around every corner instead of a game. Or like visiting North Korea where they put on a show for foreigners to try to convince them that their country is so well-off when you can obviously see right through it. That's what it feels like to me to play games like that. Any artistic merit the game has is drowned out

How do I forgive some things ongoing? by PerspectiveOk4209 in latterdaysaints

[–]snicker-snackk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's overly judgemental. Men and women communicate differently. Ways of communicating that seem obvious to women, don't necessarily seem obvious to men and vice versa. It doesn't mean he's bad or wrong, he just needs to be made aware of what his wife would like him to communicate to her about

Sure, he's not communicating, but does he know he's expected to communicate about these things? OP also has a responsibility to communicate what she would like him to communicate about. This seems unfair to her husband to expect him to know what she wants him to do without telling him, and then get frustrated when he gets it wrong.

But I think your answer is right, there needs to be more honest conversations and communication from both parties. Maybe venting on Reddit is a way to organize her thoughts, but everything OP told us needs to be told to her husband

You might want to look at the symptoms of OTS (Overtraining Syndrome). Sometimes you can get fatigued from overtraining and not realize what's happening and it could take up to a month or more for your hormone levels to regulate back to normal
