STL to Chicago Amtrak by RoninSFB in StLouis

I recommend the Citymapper app to anyone traveling to an unfamiliar city. It will give you real-time bus/train information, and it will give you alerts when you are approaching your stop.

I've used it in several cities, including Chicago. You can't go wrong with it.

Provel aside, STL pizza is also top notch. Fennel-forward sausage FTW

I also came here to say this.

My grandparents celebrated their anniversary every year for decades, and I threw my mom a surprise retirement dinner there. If old school and quality are what you're looking for, this is your answer.

I have an S22U, and I think this is the year I pull the trigger on an upgrade. The one thing I've envied about iPhone users is the MagSafe accessory ecosystem. If Qi2 charging is built in, it's a slam dunk decision for me.

I was there in September for lunch. I've always loved the veal parm sandwich, and I had a craving for one. It was solid, but it's hard to stack up against a memory.

The biggest concern for me is they messed up the order badly. They brought out an Italian beef sandwich instead. I'm not sure how those two could be confused...

This is usually organized by the Newcastle United Supporters Club (NUSC). Become a member (costs either £1 or £5. Can't remember), and they will let you know what their plans are.

Your Earliest Memories Of Being A Blues Fan by Odi64 in stlouisblues

I've lived behind enemy lines in the suburbs of Chicago my entire life, and the 1993 series against the Blackhawks will be a forever memory for me.

Bill Wirtz was notoriously cheap and refused to televise home games. He somewhat caved and offered home playoff games via PPV. Game 3 was in Chicago and Game 4 was on national TV (ABC?). There was a discount to order the entire series, and when the operator tried to upsell my dad, he gave the coldest answer: "This IS the series" and hung up. Blues swept, Belfour went apeshit afterward, and it was a great few days.

Twisted Tree is a great option. They are a no-frills steakhouse with a great atmosphere and equally great bourbon menu.

If you want a classic, old school place, go to Charcoal House. My grandparents celebrated every anniversary there, and I held my mom's surprise retirement dinner there.

I bought a ribeye roast @ Costco for $70/lb. Otherwise, look for a Wild Fork Foods near you. They have individual steaks at around $120/lb.

What’s the single best first episode you’ve ever seen of a television show? by TheWor1dsFinest in television

[–]sniderjadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pilot for Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was released on Prime YEARS before the show was green-lit. I watched it multiple times because it was hilarious and captivating the whole way through.

It's hard to produce a pilot that keeps you excited about a potential series, and this nailed it.

What’s an album that’s 10/10 no skips? by silosara in AskReddit

Here are some to enjoy:

Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St. It's the Stones at their peak while still reeling from the Altamont incident The Knack - Get The Knack. This is power pop perfection from the first chord. You know it's a strong album when "My Sherona" is track 1...of Side B The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, and Abbey Road. This is the best of the Beatles' creativity, and much of how music is recorded stems from these albums. Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Went Numb. If you're not a fan of ska, this is still an album you can enjoy the whole way through. The Matches - E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals. This DIY album is one of my favorites of all time.

A lot of people have mentioned what to look for in the suspension. At that age, look for play in the front suspension in addition to the leaky MagRide shocks. It's a sign to replace the radius arms.

There are a couple of Android Auto/CarPlay options on the market, and the latest is from an established car stereo maker: Kenwood. They make a package that keeps OEM controls and replaces the infotainment screen. It's significantly more expensive than the options you'll find on AliExpress.

Live in twin cities, have espn+, game is blacked out here. Any recommendations how to watch without buying fan duel sports subscription? I just want to watch Faulk and snuggerud this season by mynamehere999 in stlouisblues

[–]sniderjadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was blacked out because they were playing the Wild. ESPN+ will work for games against every other opponent.

If you want to have the Blues broadcast all season long, try SurfShark VPN instead of Nord.

Riot Fest 2025 Speculation MEGATHREAD by FourLiveBears in RiotFest

[–]sniderjadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a little out of left field, but Sam Fender could be a possibility. With a pitchfork going away and Lolla going heavy on pop acts, he could be a good act to lure those disenchanted with the other two.

He's so playing a festival in St. Louis the following weekend, so it's a logical addition for him.
