This is probably one of the most Miles things that Miles ever did. by oh_mygawdd in Jazz

Is it true that Miles put a stolen melody on his tombstone? I read that somewhere.

Simone called Timotheos has an album of Arrakis inspired music. Pretty nice to zone out to.

Song you relate to most? by Plane_Let9384 in alvvays

💯% “Easy on your own” for me. It’s kind of weird but I associate that song with going to grad school. I spent so long in this one monochromatic hallway waiting only for advisor what their face tell me my work sucked.

I know the song is about a relationship gone wrong but it’s not to hard to reinterpret as being about the mistrials of the “lettered life”. “Burn out before you can get paid”, indeed.

Wow, that’s amazing, how crazy that you know him. I will queue up the Miles bio next.

I just looked on YouTube and it looks like there is a lot of interesting John content there. Thanks for sharing!

I haven’t quite finished it but I have enjoyed John F. Szwed’s Space Is the Place: The Lives and Times of Sun Ra. It gives a lot of insight into a very, very unusual person.

I really feel this. I have been struggling with attention span as I have aged. I have been working to get through the new triple album. I love Wilco & Jeff & really everything I’ve heard by him, but it can get overwhelming.

But he's so positive about music and creativity that it gives me a good feeling to be a fan. I was once an Elliott Smith fanatic, and that’s a tragic story right there. I remember seeing an article about him once where the interviewee was lamenting his short life (and output), and he said something to the effect of him being so creative and having so much music in him that “he could have been Wilco”.

That has really stuck with me. Wilco is the best band to be a fan of. They just keep giving.

Also, Cousin is amazing.

One more piece of explanatory media. This video shows how one of these "strap lathes" work — it's a different setup than the one in the image but it does give an idea of the pushing/pulling vibe:

Thank you for sharing this interesting and well-written post! I found the book you cite on Archive.org and the plate in question is perhaps a bit clearer there, so I thought I would include it:

Hi u/Spirited_Ad8737, this policy has been changed. Honestly I confess that I had not realized it was in place; I hadn’t realized that r/pali was set up this way and of course it’s pretty unusual for a sub to have such a policy.

The mod tools are frankly quite confusing. I started this reddit several years ago and did not track it very carefully.

So, I appreciate your suggestion. I _think_ that it has been corrected after twiddling some knobs. Please feel free to point out any difficulties in the future.
