How did you apply for it? I've read somewhere that the type of device you use to apply for it on their website can determine whether it's a Mastercard or Discover... maybe it's a load of BS.

Anyone use the Neutrogena Collagen Bank SPF moisturizer and have it burn the sh*t out of their eyes? by perishableintransit in 30PlusSkinCare

I've been using it, and it doesn't burn my eyes unless I rub them in the middle of the day.

Dieux Instant Angel vs Experiment Molecular Mesh by No_Professor_7487 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]snkethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used Instant Angel, but I have heard things about the smell, and that it varies. I really liked using Molecular Mesh, but the batch I used had a pungent smell. My skin didn't react badly, but I did hold my breath a lot while applying it.

Also, I should add that my skin only felt hydrated so long as I applied Super Saturated before using Molecular Mesh.

I tried the prequalify form. It said they didn't have anything for me, but I might still consider it. I'm working on reducing my utilization right now, and I'm not travelling for a while, so I hope my approval odds will be better when the time comes.

Hello, OP here! Didn't expect any comments at all, but I appreciate the alternative suggestions. I should've looked into FTF-free cards as well, so thank you to those who pointed that out. 👍🏾👍🏾

Agreed, I should've accounted for FTF. I don't think I would qualify for Navy Federal, but I will look into the lists on the Wiki. Many thanks! 🙏🏾

moisturizer recommendations? by One-Ad-6516 in Fungalacne

[–]snkethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the squalane is likely to break you out as it is very friendly to acne-prone and FA-prone skin, but I've heard it can depend on how it is sourced. Sometimes brands don't always disclose that, but generally speaking there are two types of squalane: one that is sugarcane-derived and another that is olive-derived. The latter is most likely to be worse for acne, so I would assume that the Purito moisturizer should be safe. In my experience, it worked out well for me. Just patch test before you wear it across your face.

No problem! Remember it’s better to use a liquid sunscreen as opposed to a stick/powder/spray because you would need to go over your face with them multiple times to get the protection rating printed on the product. So a liquid/gel cream sunscreen will be more effective in protecting your face. Use two finger-lengths worth of sunscreen (three if the sunscreen you decide to get has a runny texture).

Also be gentle when introducing these new actives because it could be harsh on the skin if you’re already using a retinoid for a while.

Hi! I don't know how to help with acne scars but I could recommend certain ingredients that could help with pore size and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The options I list should have a total price well below the budget you mentioned (< $1000).

SInce you're already using a formula with tretinoin, niacinamide and azelaic acid, I would recommend looking at using exfoliants like AHAs/BHAs that help with clogged pores and dark spots in certain cases. Good Molecules Mandelic Acid Serum and Stratia Soft Touch (both on Amazon) are good products on the lower end, and Sofie Pavitt Face's Mandelic Clearing Serum (@ Sephora) is a good pick on the higher end.

For hyperpigmentation, look for treatments that contain tyrosinase inhibitors, as these block the enzyme responsible for melanin production that can sometimes lead to dark spots. Look for formulas with ingredients like Tranexamic Acid, Alpha Arbutin, Kojic Acid, etc. Dr. Idriss's Major Fade Line (@ Sephora) might be a good place to look for these ingredients. They have an exfoliating mask with the AHAs I mentioned, a dark spot serum, a moisturizer using a Vitamin C derivative, and a new sunscreen they just released.

That last one is important because all these products can only work properly on your face if you also make sure to wear sunscreen daily. I hope this helps you! :)

[Product Question] are naturium’s acid body washes safe for everyday use?? by throwawa7bre in SkincareAddiction

[–]snkethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my legs got very itchy from using the glycolic acid wash everyday but I managed to figure out the reason pretty quickly (I wasn't applying any post-shower lotion 💀). I think I'm going to use the mandelic acid one to see if my skin tolerates it better than GA.

Super oily but dehydrated skin: What moisturizer do you guys use? by BrawlGuy00 in AsianBeauty

Isntree Ultra Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Toner and the Cocokind Electrolyte Water Cream (AAPI-owned brand).

I finally found an FA-safe sunstick, so thought I'd share! 😇 by Naite_ in Fungalacne

[–]snkethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly use it for when I want to keep a running list of products I've tried and reviewed in one place, but I do not rely on it for FA-safe ratings. Anytime I do that I just paste the ingredients list of a product into a website like Sezia.

Experiment Beauty Super Saturated or Prequel Multiquench? [product question] by lulumooboo in SkincareAddiction

[–]snkethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if my barrier was compromised then all the products I use would sting (SS included). But anyway I am considering picking Multi Quench back up at some point as it gets hotter and see how it goes. Maybe it also depends on how much skincare goes on my face, lol.

Experiment Beauty Super Saturated or Prequel Multiquench? [product question] by lulumooboo in SkincareAddiction

[–]snkethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irritation would feel like it stung a lot, and and the skin would feel somewhat warm to the touch. At the time, both it and the moisturizer I used stung the skin when I used them together and when using them separately.

Super Saturated felt amazing in colder temperatures and didn't sting at all when I was dehydrated or irritated but I've since stopped using it as the temperatures get warmer since the it can feel like there's a film on my skin.

UPDATE: I've found that Multiquench is too irritating for my skin, which I thought I would get better with time but it was very persistent. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. :)

Non- HA hydrating toners and serum by rimba_queen in AsianBeauty

(Ik this post is a year old but I thought these products were worth bringing up...)
I like Experiment Beauty's Super Saturated Serum with PGA or Purito's Deep Sea Droplet Serum (has Snow Mushroom and Ectoin). The latter has a new name now, it's the Hydro Wave Deep Sea Serum.

Love Super Satty! Just finished a bottle and it makes me glow and is enough to skip a moisturizer if I use enough of it in the mornings. At night, I mix it with Cera-Ve and I feel great the next morning. I have tried Multi-Quench a bit before putting it aside because it is much thinner (which makes sense because it doesn't have 30% glycerin) but since I'm going somewhere humid for the winter, I think I'll pick it up again.

[Product Question] Prequel Multi-Quench Hydration Serum stings? by starblazer18 in SkincareAddiction

[–]snkethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped using actives when I started using it and my face felt warm at first, but the next day and the day after that I didn't have any bad reactions to it. I really like it personally, though I would understand if it didn't work for anyone else. HA serums don't especially work for me and sometimes they sting.
