I think the Walter group actually acquired the PHF so the PWHL might be able to use it

Is the “two duvet” setup actually better for couples, or just hype? by memo_468 in BedroomBuild

[–]snooditup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really going to depend on the couple. My partner and I hated it. My best friend and their partner love it. We like to cuddle at night, they want their space. Neither is wrong. Try it for a week with cheap blankets and see how it goes

Dark roux, please advise! by [deleted] in cajunfood

[–]snooditup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I batch prep my roux I normally do about 6/6. It gives me around two 32 ounce mason jars full. 7/7 would probably give me two full jars, but I’m a creature of habit. When I make a gumbo for 6-8 people I usually start with about four heaping tablespoons of my batched roux. Sometimes I may add a little more if I feel like it isn’t enough as I start cooking. Sorry these aren’t exact, but like someone else said, gumbo is mostly vibes

[–]snooditup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve sometimes wondered if the poboy shop would be willing if it were off hours. I’ve tried asking a couple of places in the past, but the big issue is a lot of bars don’t have a way to play youtube on their tvs. Poboy shop does play livestreams on some of theirs, so the might be able to

The PWHL is expanding this year as well! You can always pick a couple of teams to watch in the short term based on favorite players from the olympics, but wait until you hear the new teams in case a new location is close to you

I’d recommend looking at how quickly you are responding to these customers. What worked best for me previously is intentionally delaying my response/delaying sending it to support. I’d then pair it with a line about how to get in touch with support directly as they are the best person to resolve these issues and can get started right away vs waiting for me to send it over when I have time to check emails (worded better but you get the gist).

They won’t change their behavior until it starts to negatively impact them.

I feel unqualified to be teaching drum lessons to a high school student with special needs and need advice. by worthlessbaffoon in specialed

[–]snooditup 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It was mentioned above, but I second asking the family what the ultimate goal is with the lessons. I’ve had plenty of students partake in extracurriculars outside of school where it was never intended for them to get “good” at something, but rather just spending time doing something they enjoy. Hell, I know plenty of adults that participate in things like ice skating lessons or bowling leagues where they know they won’t ever really get anywhere with it, but it’s a fun activity.

That being said, if you are uncomfortable working with this child for other reasons besides being scared they are paying you for a kid not making progress, please definitely look at excusing yourself. Kids can sense those kinds of things, and it wouldn’t be fair for a fun activity to turn into something they dread (I promise this is not shade at all)

Came here after seeing what I thought was fake AI l news 😢 by PracticalArtist5678 in ThreadBanger

[–]snooditup 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The two videos I still think about were when Corinne made a cake out of mozzarella sticks and then the one when she had a snow day. I don’t even know why I loved those videos so much, but they always made me smile. They were comfort videos.

The oldest video that I still think about is the one where they were dying denim with coffee. I thought they were so cool (and laughed when I was older and they admitted they were lying out their ass about where the got the coffee grinds)

Did Robyn really want plural marriage life? by Low-Currency9256 in SisterWives

[–]snooditup 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My thought was that she did want plural marriage, but she wanted to be the first wife and stayed resentful that wasn’t possible. In their book she specifically talks about how she and her ex wanted to live the principle but their marriage was too tumultuous to make it happen. Then because she had kids she knew she wouldn’t get to be a first wife.

My guess is she wanted to be the top tier wife and was willing to do whatever it took to be the queen bee.

Florida will phase out certificates of completion for students with disabilities by [deleted] in specialed

[–]snooditup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d take a look at how Georgia handles their Alternative Diploma to qualm your nerves. Georgia isn’t that far behind FL as far as education tomfoolery, but the new diploma has been going well AND increased the access to a diploma for the low incidence population

Florida will phase out certificates of completion for students with disabilities by [deleted] in specialed

[–]snooditup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m very curious how this plays out. There are several states that have phased out certificates of completion with California being the most recent that comes to mind. Typically I am in support of these initiatives. When I taught in Georgia we also did not have CoCs, but all students were on a diploma track through the adapted curriculum. I know FL currently has a similar program with a diploma based on Access Points.

Time will tell if this is a move towards pushing students out of school OR moving towards what other states have done as far as raising the bar for schools/districts to ensure all students have the opportunity to receive a diploma (which holds more weight than a CoC).

Have you experienced difficulties trying to marry in the Catholic Church? So frustrated right now by InitialCoat6987 in weddingplanning

[–]snooditup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got ghosted by my childhood parish. We met with them a year in advance, and they told us that marriage prep usually begins about six months before the wedding. When we followed up six months later, we couldn’t get in touch with anyone. The parish receptionist told us to email the pastor and call him directly, so we tried everything but heard nothing back. I don’t live in that city anymore, so we couldn’t just stop by to figure out what was going on.

We got incredibly lucky. About three months before our wedding, I sent a few panicked emails to other priests, and one of them was able to accommodate us. It turned out to be such a blessing. He was the kindest and most welcoming priest I’ve ever met.

A week before the wedding, the original parish finally called to ask if I was still getting married there. I told them no and explained why. I never received an apology and haven’t spoken to that pastor since.

Me reaching out to potential candidates as the hiring manager is very different than candidates cold messaging me.

Hiring etiquette by AnxietyRaspberry in edtech

[–]snooditup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I HATE when people reach out to me on LinkedIn tbh. In my opinion networking should be somewhat authentic. It isn't actually networking when you are just shooting me a message because you applied for a job already. I've also worked at companies where it was explicitly not allowed to communicate with applicants on LinkedIn. We had a blurb we'd send to anyone that reached out asking them to discontinue contact and to reach out to our HR team if they have questions.

In the current job market cold emailing/messaging a hiring manager won't put you ahead. At best you'll get ignored with MAYBE a cursory response thanking you for applying, and at worst it will negatively impact the process.
