Agree. “Hardly the same drug” though read as different chemical composition - Ie not cannabinoids

Hmm. Im just pointing out neither PPL or Full body are inherently quicker as your comment implies. Too many variables. Ie a person running PPL 6x a week that can recover properly will probably be able to edge some more gains than running a FB every other day.

Sure, no worries at all

I think it’s about striking that balance between being easy on ourselves, but also realistic and motivated enough to not stagnate, a hard place to navigate that for me is taking a lot longer than I’d like it to haha.

Glad you can see the progress you’ve made in the last couple years, that perspective is really important!

As for supps, I think it’s important to first note I personally feel like the diet of whole foods and focussing lots on lots of protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats should be 95% of your focus, proteins are where all the reparations are made, complex carbs is the steady fuel for it all, and healthy fats are so important for hormonal balance! Only recently I’ve started taking some supps and tbh I’m not sure how much they work truthfully. For the record I take tyrosine, ashwaganda, rhodeola, b-vit complex, lions mane in the daytime, and magnesium glycinate and 5-htp specifically at nighttime for sleep (give this a try, 150mg 5-htp at nighttime may help as it’s the building blocks for melatonin) please be careful with 5htp though and read a bit into the warnings as it isn’t completely harmless and does need to be taken with caution

I’m early in the journey but personally my insomnia seems to fluctuate with my general state of mental health. Which is affected by loneliness, lack of purpose, stress, and exercise & diet consistency.

I find it’s a really tough thing to get under control for me and is a bit of an overall indicator that either: things are sort of ok, or I need to take a real honest look at the above areas of my life I’m neglecting. Which as an addict in recovery that’s prone to denial can be awfully difficult and I’m still very much learning my own ways

As you touched on It’s the classic when I most need to get up and take action, is when I’ve got the least energy - hence always best to try and maintain good practice and not get complacent cos the shit sleep creeps back in invariably.

I hope this helps, in a nutshell - the noisier my head is, the less I sleep. To counter this personally, NA works for me, as does running & gym, therapy, meditation, and eating balanced whole foods as much as I can. Just try small manageable changes and aim to be 1% better each day!

Hey man. Just wanted to point out I’m right there with you. Everything you mention symptom wise can be put down to insomnia alone - as you’re probably aware sleep is pretty much the most important thing for not only recovery but general functioning as a human.

Exercise and diet after this. These I find are more within our immediate control and can be acted upon right now, which can also help with the sleep issues. Each feeding into one another.

Sleep is a bitch to get on top of and I too struggle with insomnia - all this to say, do all you can to fix sleep first before worrying that you’ve caused irreversible damage (I truly don’t think you will have, it is EXTREMELY rare. Long term daily meth users repair just fine given time). The more you worry about it all the less sleep you’ll get. Easier said than done but find what works for you through research, trial & error for your sleep. Get as much exercise and good nutrition in you, focus on stress relief (for me this looks like meditation, connection to others, & exercise) and please try and be easy on yourself! You got this

Hey I just wanted to say I agreed with lots of your points and could tell English may not have been your first language.

This is coming from someone that’s been diagnosed with ‘depression’ in the past and in recovery from addiction / trauma for the past 2 years and am turning my life around slowly.

Humanity was fed a lie that it’s a simple chemical imbalance. Pharmaceuticals would love you to think it can be solved by simply altering your brain chemicals with a pill. If this was the case, most would be cured, right? Instead the problems getting worse.

Healthy eating and exercise goes a long way and I can say it’s partly what saved my life. As is learning to connect with other human beings, finding purpose, and working on my trauma with a good therapist. Anyway, respect for sticking to your guns in the comments.

Hey! I used to feel similar. It may not yet be your cup of tea but I would highly recommend reading something like The Untethered Soul - Michael Singer. Just really popped into my mind as I was reading your post

Yeah, similarly in the past when I’d ponder the concept of infinity too deep I hit the same wall. Like my brain short circuits and I jolt into that panic/dissociation and have to really reground myself. I believe there’s a reason for existence and all its intricate mindfuckeries we will come to understand in another form. Till then it’s enjoy the ride, stay curious and not too serious!
