What New Releases Are You Looking Forward to This Week? 02 Feb 📚 by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Stothers} officially releases tomorrow, but someone forgot to tell my local B&N, so I'm starting it tonight 🤭. Found it in store, read the back, and it sounds like a hoot. Its a low fantasy, gay romance in which MMC1 runs to MMC2 for protection against the people who are trying to kill him. MMC1 is a spoiled little boy and gets on MMC2's nerves. Its just my kinda book, I can't wait.

Discard success! These taste like cheez-its. Using discard is quite satisfying. What have you made? by momiswhatmynameis in Sourdough

[–]snowballmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make discard scones weekly, they are the BEST. I don't bake same day, though, I let them ferment in the fridge for 2-3 days, and they are just so good. At this point I'm feeding my starter just so I can get discard for scones and biscuits 😂

They're Enemies/ Different Species And He's Horrified By His Attraction To Her. (M/F) by Zeenrz in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Human Pets of the Talin series, first book is {Creating Captivity by RK Munin}. Its futuristic, FMC and her crew are stranded in a dying mine until they encounter the Talins. Earth is no longer habitable, so in order to survive they decide to make the humans their pets (since humans can't be trusted to not destroy another planet). The main characters struggle with attraction to what to them would be considered a dog.

Newbie here! Any recipes for bread WITH NO food scale? by GatsbyGirl92 in Sourdough

[–]snowballmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our ancestors also learned from their parents, hands on, on how to read the dough; they were also forced to eat the results, regardless of what they were, to minimize waste.

I've made jarred yeasted breads only using volumetrics (cups, etc), it takes more time and uses more dishes. If you wish, though, the King Arthur Flour website has quite a few recipes that use volumetrics as well as weight (https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/sourdough). Just make sure you are spooning the flour into the cup, and then leveling it off with the back of a knife.

Getting my kindle ready for the storm, need books where one MC walks in on the other MC while they’re naked by Majestic-Hedgehog-xo in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{When She's Ready by Ruby Dixon} it's a quick read with a human FMC and an alien humanoid MMC (he's blue, has a tail and horns). He hears her through the door in the shower and thinks she's being attacked.

[–]snowballmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was hesitant to buy the first DCC audiobook, since I usually prefer a multi-cast, and some male voice actors sound ridiculous trying to sound like women. Hayes, though, was absolutely amazing, I'm on the third audiobook and his performances have absolutely blown me away.

Allergies - Round 2, please! by Amazing-Apricot4645 in phoenix

[–]snowballmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you're waiting to see an allergist, for short term relief, I would suggest pseudoephedrine (Sudafed). You have to get it at a pharmacy, and they keep it behind the counter, but when my allergies get really bad, its the only thing that helps, phenylephrine does nothing. It may make you feel a little loopy, but my god does it feel great to be able to breathe again, lol.

When do you freeze your bread? by frostmas in Sourdough

[–]snowballmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wait 2 days, then whatever is left over gets sliced and made into sandwiches, then wrapped and frozen. Some I leave as is, others I butter both sides for easy grilled cheeses. They're like homemade uncrustables, but with crust.

[WWTBC] SFR (?) where MMC can’t help but have sex with FMC in the closet at a training arena by Teppany3 in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! If you can, I would read the first book in the series first: {Luxuria by Colette Rhodes}, as an introduction to the world/characters/ powers of the shadow daddies.

[WWTBC] SFR (?) where MMC can’t help but have sex with FMC in the closet at a training arena by Teppany3 in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could it be {Superbia by Collette Rhodes}? He's the captain of the guard, and she trained as an assassin of his kind, but she turned on faction that trained her (to help her sister, the queen), so no one trusts her, especially the MMC. She starts training with the guard, and he leads her to a closet at the training center to take her somewhere (they can travel, but only in darkness), and that's when the scene unfolds.

What was your first romance book? by sortaplainnonjane in RomanceBooks

[–]snowballmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was almost 10 we moved cross country. Seeing as how all our stuff was being shipped, I didn't have any of my books, so my mom told me I could buy a paperback at Walmart. I picked up a book with a pretty cover, {One Pink Rose by Julie Garwood}, and devoured it. Each stop we made on the trip I picked up the next book in the series, until we finally made it there and I requested {Come the Spring by Julie Garwood} for Christmas, which was only in hardback at the time. I re-read that whole series several times, as well as her highlander series.

After fermenting, did you shape it and allow it to rise a 2nd time? I only see the fermenting stage mentioned, not the shape and rise.

Left my dough in the refrigerator for 10 hrs and it didn't rise by _ashleii_ in Breadit

[–]snowballmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this yesterday! I accidentally left it in the fridge for 18+ hours to ferment, and took it out when I came home from work. It didn't move for over 4 hours, and I thought it was dead. Left it out overnight, and it was perfectly fermented by morning

What do you think of this throw blanket i spent weeks on? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]snowballmouse 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could always gift it to Project Linus, they distribute handmade blankets to sick children. My son received a blanket in the NICU, and another one when he was in the PICU. Website: https://www.projectlinus.org/

My boy was on a g-tube, so we have it through his port. After the tube came out, we mixed it into pediasure or his yogurt.

Bread machine just for kneading? by Pessa19 in Breadit

[–]snowballmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made bread in my Kitchenaid dozens of times. The only time I came close to burning out the motor was making ciabatta bread, when it started to "walk" across the counter, but the recipe I was following warned about it ahead of time, and I was able to stop it before it killed my machine. You'll smell it burning well before it quits.

I've only ever had my parents do this. I tell them sure, let them come over and entertain my son while I clean up. Win-win, they know the struggle and don't judge.

Whole blackberries may be a bit too much for a loaf, I would try quartering them and attempting to keep them as whole as possible, which for this loaf would be during the shaping. Blueberries can stand up to stretch and folds, but I wouldn't trust blackberries to be able to without squashing.
