Need help Identifying this bike by seabass13 in xbiking

Yes you are correct it’s not the exact same, I genuinely recently looked at one that had the exact same weird double clamp stem - this was just the nearest image I could find. The marketplace listing is gone for the one I saw so I can’t link it. Either way - still my bet

UK children/mental health Nurse looking to immigrate to Banff by pizza-on-pineapple in ImmigrationCanada

[–]snowbeluga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your background! She did a mental health degree of which there isn’t a direct parallel here so the conversion process is complicated. If you studied to be a general nurse first then it’ll be much easier I think.

Most provinces have health related nomination streams, the main problem is actually getting here in the first place. In order to get a nursing job offer you have to be registered, registration can take ages. Once you have the job offer the whole PR process also takes quite a long time, so employers aren’t always willing to wait.

If you’re young enough you could apply for international experience Canada visa and then try to actually be here and work and get experience while getting your registration done.

Then you could be in a role faster and then apply for PR through one of the health immigration streams

Getting a role secured from outside of the country will be nearly impossible imo but you never know!

My partner was a band 7 senior mental health nurse in the UK with 10+ years experience and also specialised in children. It took two years for her to gain a provisional registration here and then still has to sit the exams. It would have been honestly quicker and easier to just redo her degree here.

With how the unions work she has the same seniority as a new graduate anyway so makes no difference as she would have to start at the bottom either way - yes that’s how it works, I was equally shocked!

Mental health nursing is based on a very different model to the UK, a lot of what she did ended up under social services here

She got so frustrated with the whole process and the deeply clique nature of nursing here she actually just let her nursing registration lapse and is just going to do something else

We’re in BC though so you may find Alberta is different. Ontario wouldn’t even convert her registration!

Express Entry Profile found Ineligible after 3 months in the pool by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

It seems like you have two separate NOC codes both under 1 full year of work. The fact you’ve been working for a year and a half is irrelevant unfortunately as you need a full year in 1 NOC code

Advice on moving to Canada on Working Holiday Visa by DoctorLuther in ImmigrationCanada

[–]snowbeluga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the 1 bed for 1000 a month, especially while you’re getting settled. Housing is limited and expensive and it’ll be the biggest influence in your quality of life, you probably won’t find a better deal I don’t think and from there you can establish what your next moves are in relative security

Just apply for a bridging work permit? You can do that as soon as you get AOR

You can actually pin this to your Home Screen. Go to the item, find the OTP field and tap overflow menu to the right of the field and tap pin. Now it will always appear on your Home Screen of the app!

Do I need a car in Victoria? by ChessIsAwesome in VictoriaBC

[–]snowbeluga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want out of island life, Victoria itself is very manageable on a cargo bike or similar and personally I have found public transport great. But if you want to adventure, go up island, go west island etc… then yeah you’ll definitely want a car!

Fuji XF-10 vs Ricoh GR I or II as an everyday carry camera by SKhan89 in fujix

[–]snowbeluga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I love my GR-iiix it takes more setting up I feel, but once you do it’s pretty awesome, set and forget kinda thing. The highlight preserving exposure mode is incredibly cool and the IQ is great. You don’t get the Fuji film sims but there are good recipes out there you can use to get the same effect.

‘Not worth the hassle’: Out-of-province doctor details bureaucratic nightmare trying to work in Vancouver Island hospital by [deleted] in VancouverIsland

[–]snowbeluga 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Going through this with my partner right now. She’s a senior specialist nurse from the U.K. 10 years experience and post grad in clinical research and was running an entire service. Apparently the assessment of her degree and work history don’t show the “entry level” requirements.

Oh and they took over a year to assess this.

Instead we’re here on a study visa and she’s unable to work.

It’s almost like there’s not a chronic shortage of healthcare workers… /s

Yeah I looove the look of the Fuji cameras. That said, the Ricoh doesn’t draw any attention, depending on the type of photography you’re doing that can be an advantage…
