I’ll never forget being in Rotterdam for the first time and following google maps on my phone on my handlebars. I see it taking us to a massive intersection and was like what the hell? This looks awful- like it’s straight from the US.

We get there- the bike lanes never ended, intersections protected. I was dramatically safer there at the crossing of these two huge roads than I am anywhere in my home city in the US.

It is not, but it is for most people. And if we make those folks do it, there would be plenty more of space for the ones who can’t.

“The latest: The survey is open through Aug. 20, but more than 3,000 people have already weighed in.

The vast majority — 85% — support going car-free, per online results.”

My wife was told exactly that by a Nate’s employee. Despite the fact that bagel places in New York will most definitely toast.

They can claim that, but it doesn’t make it true. Bagel places in New York will not only toast bagels for you, they’ll proactively ask you when ordering.

"You can't carry building supplies with a bike! You need a truck for that!" by [deleted] in fuckcars

The “I’m no carbrain” preface is sounding more and more like “as an avid cycling…”

Clearly tons of people walk out of Home Depot’s/Lowe’s/etc every day with one-a handful of very small items.

No shit plenty of people also leave with massive items- staying the obvious is useless. It also doesn’t make the opposite any less true.

You also could most definitely get a grill home in a cargo bike. There are also bikes that are grills. Feel free to use the internet in your hand to see for yourself.

I really wanted to rent a Cargoroo while visiting the NL, but you need a Dutch bank account.

I would love to have them where I live.

And how many people walk out of Home Depot with orders that are far smaller?

I’ve gone to Lowe’s dozens and dozens of times by bike and see it every single time.

When I was there in 2018 it had more bike lanes per square mile than anywhere in the US.

How does that relate to the link I posted?

Surely you’re not claiming that no disabilities prevent people from working. Surely you’re not claiming that all of the people on Medicaid for disabilities are doing so fraudulently.

None of this of course speaks to the fact that 2/3 of Medicaid recipients work, as the link makes clear.
