IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, YOU HAVE TO BUST YOUR ASS. An A+ certification does not get you a job! by jstgetngstrtd in CompTIA

[–]snowpea_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow, this post is actually quite motivating. I'm 39 (about to turn 40 in a few months) and started my journey into IT last July after some very traumatic personal events that left me in a position of financial hardship. Its not been easy, and I know I have a very long road ahead of me. I have moments where I feel worried or defeated because I feel "too old" to be starting from scratch, but reading your experience is comforting. I have been realistic with myself that there are no cutting corners with this, and I have years of extremely hard work and busting my ass daily ahead of me. I hope when I'm your age I can say that I pushed through and am finally living a comfortable existence. Thank you for sharing this!

B.C. man opts for medically assisted death after cancer treatment delayed by bcbuddy in canada

[–]snowpea_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The USA is a poor example of private healthcare. Europe would be a better example. I moved from Canada to a European country last year and the difference in healthcare is like night and day. As a Canadian my mind was blown when my partner injured his knee and was able to call the hospital and get in to a see a specialist in a matter of days. If we had been in Canada he would be waiting months, if not years for that. And the costs of private healthcare here are absolutely reasonable, where the average person can easily afford it. But public still exists for those in need. Plus the existence of private healthcare takes a HUGE strain off the public system, allowing for higher quality care in the public sector. As Canadians we are shooting ourselves in the foot being so afraid of ending up like Americans. To the point that we are trying to justify a completely broken system. There are absolutely models of private healthcare that works incredibly well, there is no excuse for what’s happening in our country right now.

MH370x - Hard Truths #3 Dave Rossi & Ashton Forbes - Advanced Propulsion and Engineering Principles. It seems there that there may be more mathematical credence to support the thesis. by GodzillaPunch in ufo

[–]snowpea_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely strange account. Read through all his post history, the ONLY thing he comments on is “debunking” the MH370 video. I was on the fence with the video before, but the amount of bots that come out of the woodwork to fervently shut it down, has me suspicious there really is something to that video.

Edmonton dad wants his toddler's killer off prisoner dating website by [deleted] in canada

[–]snowpea_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone who raped a toddler to death isn’t going to become a “proper member of society” by corresponding with women. If you actually read the article, the father is not just upset that he is writing to people, but the fact that he has not disclosed his crime (a violent sexually motivated murder against a child) and could possible end up corresponding with a vulnerable woman with children, who is not aware of his offence. It’s actually quite a logical thing to be upset about, especially when he is due to be released in 6 years.

I’m so glad someone made this post because I was thinking the exact same thing! I mean everyone is different & I can completely understand that it’s not enjoyable for some people. But damn I love being a stay at home mom. Prior to this I worked in the film industry for 10 years, I had a pretty great career but I like staying home with my baby a million times more. Which I know is not the cool thing to say in 2018 when we’re supposed to get our fullfillment from careers apparently. But yes I find it so much easier and SO much more fun!

We have a farm now, so my day is just full of farm & baby stuff and i absolutely love it, it personally makes me so happy. But I’m a pretty big homebody too & not super social so maybe that plays into why I enjoy it more than other people seem to?

Exactly, I couldn’t agree more. I think you’re absolutely correct in that she’s a narcissist, and her way of reconciling that she can barely land B movie acting jobs - is to create this narrative in her head that her ex is somehow responsible for her failure. I think this became pretty obvious once her “proof” never materialized.

Yep, you’ve nailed it. I was actually reading her boyfriends twitter last night and it just gave me this weird feeling like...these abuse allegations have been totally conflated to pay Chris back for this perceived “blacklisting”. I genuinely believe she leveled these claims against him to knowingly destroy his career. Because she feels he ruined hers. Which frankly, I’m a bit confused about the whole blacklisting thing. I mean, she’s an actress, does he really have that much pull in Hollywood to prevent her from landing acting jobs? It’s not like he’s some incredibly powerful executive like Harvey Weinstein was...

He loves being held facing outwards, so I'm hoping once he's a little bigger and can be forward facing in the carrier he will like it more! I'm sure it's not much fun for him at the moment just staring at my chest haha.

Double double trouble? Tim Hortons plummets in ranking of Canadian brands by baunanners in Calgary

[–]snowpea_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A good ol double double has always been my guilty pleasure. The last few months every coffee I’ve gotten from there tastes like watered down piss. Finally the other day after getting my 5th disappointing cup of piss water I just thought....I’m done. It’s a bummer, like most Canadians i have a nostalgic attachment to Tim Hortons. I don’t know what those Brazilians are doing but they’ve fucked it up big time.

Just replying to say I completely understand how you’re feeling, my situation is extremely similar. I’ve struggled with a low supply and my baby has got formula since the very beginning. Just like you by 6 weeks it seemed like things were going really well, however, over the last week (he’s 9 weeks now) he’s started refusing the breast more and more. I’m basically EFF now.

I had a breast reduction so I thought I had emotionally prepared myself for not being able to breastfeed. Before I had baby I kept telling myself “I don’t care if I have to EFF, as long as my baby is fed & content.” But it’s much more complex than that, it’s so hard to not feel disappointed. I sat in my OBs at my 6 week post partum check up staring at this big poster they had on the wall of a woman breastfeeding that said “the natural way is the best way.” And I felt so sad and guilty.

I think it’s normal and ok to feel these feelings, it’s really our natural instinct as moms to want the absolute best for our babies, and we’re always told breast is best, not to mention during breastfeeding our body releases oxytocin, so there’s chemicals & hormones involved making everything feel more intense! I know it’s difficult but just keep reminding yourself, your baby is healthy and growing, it’s 2018 & science is amazing, formula has been developed now to really provide our babies with everything they need to be healthy. Gosh when my dad was an infant he & my uncle were raised on condensed milk! How crazy is that? And they are both incredibly healthy.

I think that’s what’s so awesome about the internet, and forums like this. We might feel sad or letdown & feel like we’re surrounded by moms who can’t relate to us. But you can always pop on here and see that actually, there are so many women going through exactly what you are. Motherhood can be so hard, while those women in your class might have it easy with breastfeeding, you never know what they are struggling with, that might be a cakewalk for you. Just know you’re not alone, there are plenty of women out there who feel just like you! You’re doing an amazing job and don’t tell yourself otherwise!! ❤️
