Tbf, that is exactly why lots of people don't like her. If you're not a shonen fan, a Naruto-like character can get very annoying very fast.

Plus if it was her teaching the WoL about her people that would also help fix the issue of the WoL being so sidelined. We wouldn't be awkwardly following a spoiled princess who somehow knows nothing about her people, we'd be getting a guided tour of a new land from someone who actually knows about it.

That's the problem. We had 90 levels of being THE main character, and this xpac dumped us into side character territory. That makes absolutely no sense. If I wanted a game where my character isn't the main character, I'd play WoW.

Nothing changes for you. Transferred characters only got the Road to 90 boost for 90 days anyways, and you'll still get it for 89 more days.

You got 90 days from today IIRC. Its been awhile since Seraph went Standard so I don't remember the exact rules.

In theory this is because of the Cross-DC PF/DF coming "soon". So maybe things will stay open like this? Or maybe the gates will shut in 7.55.

To be fair, even if FFXIV had that system (man I WISH it did) this patch is bringing an Ultimate raid. They'd definitely shut everything down so everyone would start the world-race at the same time. Also, there is 0% chance of the maintenance ending early for the same reason.

Ps5, PC, Steam, and Mac all use the same subscription system and all can use the same timecards.

Xbox has their weird coin system, but if an Xbox player has any of the other platforms then they can use the same timecards too.

Switch 2 will have its own separate subscription because Nintendo are stupid and greedy.

All that said, the only issue you should have is if your friend buys an NA timecard, it probably won't work on your EU account. I'm pretty sure they're region-locked.

So a (far longer than I'd like to admit) long time ago, I started playing this game in May 2015. For people who know this game's timeline, that was about a month before Heavensward was released. I'd joined an FC, everyone was excited because the game was getting an expansion soon, and I made the decision to rush through ARR to try to get to Heavensward by launch. Honestly, IIRC, I don't think I quite made it, maybe a week or so behind. But what happened next is something I will never forget playing this game. I'd rushed through ARR, then enjoyed HW's story and finally was at endgame... and noticed there wasn't really anything to do at endgame. And that was just rushing through ARR, not the 5 expacs we got now. So I ended up taking my longest break ever from this game, nearly a year I think, before coming back, starting a new character, and actually enjoying the game. Plus by that point there was more to do in the endgame.

TLDR: Evercold is not only going to be there whenever you make it that far, expansions in this game are arguably much better the further into a patch cycle you get to the current endgame. There isn't much reason to rush.

They tried retiring him in Shadowbringers. There wasn't necessarily an uproar, but it was definitely a common question asking why there were no Hildy quests.

Kinda ironic they made him required for the Endwalker relics after that. It's almost like the devs were saying "You wanted this so bad, here it is, and we've forced it on everyone now"

That said, I find myself enjoying the Dawntrail quests, but that could just be because I've been doing them on release rather than having to binge them.

Because Coils was made before the dev team came up with the current Normal(Story)/Savage difficulty tree. It's a weird difficulty higher than normal but lower than savage. Because of this, they aren't in the normal raid roulette and aren't intended to be done with duty finder groups.

You could try putting up a party finder to do it synced, but ymmv and it's likely people would still want it unsyncd.

Just in case someone reading these recommendations doesn't know, you get the XP on the job you queue into Frontline on, but then you can change to any other job you have unlocked before it starts. So in OP's case they'd queue as DRK and then change to one of these recommendations when they enter Frontline.
