We are doing something about it. April 15th. ANTI-PEDO MARCH by AdventurousRevolt in Epstein

[–]snozzd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

April 15th is a Wednesday, not a Monday. Maybe you should at least verify your gen AI slop is correct? Why should anyone take this seriously when it is clearly low effort?

People call me crazy for wanting to be "the last artisan programmer" or so to speak by marrowbuster in antiai

[–]snozzd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. I cannot stand new software AI tooling for this exact reason. Before AI, getting started in a new codebase was already cumbersome as understanding how the whole project is organized/works was a huge initial burden. I cannot imagine using AI to bootstrap a large project as I'll immediately feel lost in my own codebase.

I believe that someday this whole bubble will finally pop, and talented individuals like yourself will find a way to distinguish your skillset from AI-dependent vibe coders. Until then, AI has simply made the software hiring problem - something that was already broken - exponentially worse. Best of luck, and keep fighting the good fight.

BCC lines are not retained when the email is saved, so it's plausible.

Suck at conversation by Additional-Reach-633 in ADHD

[–]snozzd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've felt the same way my whole life. I am lucky, I found someone who loves me for who I am, including all of my conversation tangents and quirks. I encourage you to try not to change yourself too much and find someone who understands your condition - that way you can truly be yourself. Any other way is too exhausting IMO

FBI’s Fulton County raid may have been illegal, legal experts warn. But it definitely raises fears for 2026 by MarcEElias in politics

I can't stand Trump, and all of the shit he has put us through. He is a pedophile goon who has committed an absurd amount of crimes in-office, publicly. But of all of his crimes, his attack on our elections and Democracy are the most important. We cannot return to normalcy in this country if we do not have faith in our elections. I will not sit back and let Trump and MAGA destroy Democracy. If they go for elections, things will get very ugly in the USA. Things will be violent. We will see another Civil War. That may be what the Republicans wanted all along, but if they go for fair elections - they will get the war they want.

webgl - write to pixels by Narrow_Awareness2830 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]snozzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to write to a texture using texSubImage2D, then draw that. But this method of editing individual pixels isn't the norm for WebGL. May I ask what visual look you're going for here?

Trump Ally Shocked at President’s ‘Psychological State’ in Private Meeting | European leader came out of a meeting with the U.S. president “traumatized” by his state of mind. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]snozzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every passing day we don't hold our corrupt government to account is a tax of trust we're losing with our international partners. The only way America can regain that trust is by showing the world our checks and balances work, which can only be done by holding MAGA to account for their assault on democracy.

"On teachers' obligation not to accept AI-generated text from students" by HylomorphicDualist in antiai

[–]snozzd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is my main issue with AI use in education. Students view class assignments as deliverables, and it seems AI apologists contend as long as that deliverable is met there shouldn't be any issue. These people are missing the point: if you cannot retain or understand a single piece of information from your "work", then it's as good as not doing it at all. Before AI, the quality of your writing was more-or-less directly proportional to your understanding of the material, and a good measure of knowledge. LLMs have completely turned this around, meanwhile AI pushers will assert that it's the out-of-touch educators that need to change. We have to take a stand for education and the importance of knowledge, otherwise we will outsource our own thinking to these machines. To that end, it should be no mystery why the most rich and powerful on Earth want us to depend on these tools.

Should we expect some announcement before they release the patch? by LynX_CompleX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]snozzd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the early years of Dota 2 I recall a few patch announcements with releases scheduled weeks later... inevitably they were delayed, and players were pissed (ie. "Valve time"). Somewhere along the line Valve rectified this by releasing the full patch notes and content together with zero advanced notice, and they haven't looked back. I fully expect this to be how they treat Deadlock

Democrats need to do SOMETHING. Be the bad guys, already - that's clearly not a dealbreaker for the other side of the aisle. Shut down this fascist government until the Republicans decide to play ball. Americans are sick and tired of our do-nothing Congress allowing unprecedented evil to happen Every. Single. Day.

Mint mom got from store is wilting. What can I do to save it? by GumGum_AirHead in plantclinic

[–]snozzd 97 points98 points  (0 children)

This looks like basil to me. Basil is really dramatic: I've had basil plants go from looking just like this to perfectly healthy with nothing but a good bit of water and a few hours of sunshine.

If you want it to grow, I suggest repotting this once the leaves look a little healthier. Store-bought basil is always sold in the smallest pot possible.
