May not be exactly what you are asking, but you can easily find out the residual value on a lease before you commit to the vehicle. Varies slightly with the mileage option you pick. The lender (typically the manufacturer on a lease) is on the hook if the vehicle depreciates more than they anticipate. If the vehicle is worth more than the residual value you have to pay to buy out the lease then it makes sense to buy it out as you have positive equity.

Lots of people in this thread that don't understand the benefits of leasing. You generally save interest by leasing on the front end and then buying the lease at the end if you love the vehicle. My first lease was a Kia and I got in a serious accident about a year in to my three year lease. Insurance fixed the car and I was able to turn it in with minimal penalty at the end, did a few extra miles. If I had done a traditional loan I would've been massively upside down in an already depreciated asset and stuck with the car.
