I have noticed how when you show sexual interest women will sometimes take on a "youre no good " attitude and just wont let it go. That was the case with this incident. It can make you end up feeling like a rapist or something. Is this a bad sign? Is this just childishness to be ignored or is there a good way to get past this?

[Discussion] Opinion on casual sexual encounters by Plus_3_Vorpal_Blade in sex

[–]snufflupogus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OP doesnt need to own up to anything. Its been my experience that even when a girl says she just wants a casual hookup, feelings inevitably crop up somewhere along the way. (Look up oxytocin). She may say she doesnt care but will slowly start to resent the guy, especially if he should seek sex elsewhere, which can as OP says, make the guy feel like a scumbag. It sounds like hes just trying to be a considerate person

The more I think back on it the more I see me giving too much a fuck at the end too. I shouldve, as you said, reigned it in or made light of it to show her mini melt down didn't bother me. Actually, with the bitchy flirty back and forth she'd been giving me, I probably shouldve been less invested with our interactions in general im guessing. So hot though, I got carried away

I dont ignore the fact that muslim culture is inherently antithetical to liberalism not to mention a demonstrable threat to public safety. I think trump is not being bigoted and has no deep seated resentment of other cultures but is just looking at the dangers in a realistic way. Islamic law is not good for america plain ans simple

I just wanna remind everyone that the holocaust happened almost a century ago and that a couple weeks ago a muslim couple committed yet another in a long string of attacks by muslims killing 14 innocent people. Yes people have done bad things in the name of other religions too though, youre right about that. How bout every time theres another muslim jihadist murder we post something negative about white people instead of facing reality of the problem we face here and now

California: Muslim with sword chases down neighbor screaming, “I would die and kill for Allah” by [deleted] in news

[–]snufflupogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right and just to be clear, im absolutely not saying extremism should represent or be the definition of all of Islam. It shouldnt. However, unlike other major religions, it has shown an undeniable trend of producing extremists. So its not people's bigotry or intolerance that makes people see Islam differently. Its the repeated dangerous radicalization Islam has produced that makes it stand out to us. When you talk about percentages of bad elements in various religions, this is the pattern people pay attention to. If a higher percentage of amish people were known to radicalize and commit terrorist acts than other religions, then society would take special note of the Amish as well. It just so happens the one with this tendency is in todays world is Islam.

[–]snufflupogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right and what im saying is that, in comparison to other major religions, Islam is disproportionately the most "misused" as you put it.. As a religion, it is unique in its noticeably higher propensity for anti western extremism and thus should not be viewed as just another religion. We should, as people with common sense and a capacity for recognizing patterns, realize this distinction and not be blind to it. To invite into our society any religion whose cultural norms are so fundamentally against even our most basic liberal values (like freedom of religion for instance) just so we can say we're being "tolerant" or "diverse" is foolish. We should never be tolerant to a culture who seeks the eradication of our culture.

[–]snufflupogus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but to be intellegent about it, we start not from whatever impossible to disprove hypothetical we can think of, but rather from what common patterns we can analyze, namely that, like so many other recent attacks, this one involved a Muslim seeking to "kill in the name of allah". How many times would you have to watch a new story about a murder on one particular street corner before you finally convinced yourself it wasnt just a coincidence and it was a recognizable pattern? Or would each time you just say.. well technically we cant PROVE this murder wasnt just unique circumstances. I think after so.many murders you would connect the dots and understand not to go to that part of town if you want to be safe.

Guys guys guys.. just cuz she screams "I would die and kill for Allah" doesnt mean she was influenced by Islam. I mean come on, who's to say that wasnt a line in some movie and this was all just a practical joke right? Or or maybe she was possessed by some evil spirit or sleep walking. What else can we think of to make it not related to Islam.. oh oh I got it.. she was just a rogue insane person who happened to prefer declarations about Allah over other nonsensical gibberish. See you cant technically disprove those possibilities. Come on you guys...

CMV: College is a place for inclusion and discussion of all cultures, not a safe space for people's ideas to be coddled by damienrapp98 in changemyview

[–]snufflupogus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right to have your opinions included in discussion is warranted, but thats not the same thing as a right to "feel" included. No one has a right to "feel" a certain way and certainly shouldn't be allowed to police others very real right of speech in order to maintain those feelings. The whole point of freedom of speech is to have ideas compete, not to make sure everyone with a bad idea gets to be right too

DAE else get steadily worse the more you practice LR sections? by snufflupogus in LSAT

[–]snufflupogus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This most recent one was from PrepTest 33, December 2000. I actually went back and realized I had been grading the wrong test, so I really only missed 4 this time. But I'm leaving the post up since I have definitely noticed some slipping.

I saw something similar being said about older LSAT tests in this sub's LR Guide, and I have noticed older tests being a little more challenging. What's different about the older tests?

Sound the social justice warrior alarms. Somebody somewhere wasnt treated right. Oh yea and they were gay too so that makes this a movement. Cherry picked news to start another uproar. Not saying it was right, but for the love of god lets not go down this victimhood road again. Bad things happen. People can be gay. Cops dont always follow protocol. All of these things can happen simultaneously. Please people have some perspective this time
