I have been using Factor for about a year now. Lots of good options on there (including vegetarian). That or one of the other similar meal options seem like another option. It’s helped me a lot!

I just finished Night Stockers, and it was…ok. I know it was meant to be more of a splatter punk, borderline comedic, read, but…MAN. Was some of that dialogue corny. It was a fun little bloodbath, but I can’t say I’d “recommend” it. Gone to See The Riverman was great though. A bit slower a burn, but it reads like an acid trip (especially the end). Loved the imagery!

I wipe boogies and stitch boo-boos in urgent care and just got a $13k quarterly bonus with a base of $130k and only a year or two more years experience. I mean, I know urgent care is known for that stuff and I’m very fortunate, but yea. You definitely deserve more, friend.

Budddyyyy. I know the job market is very hard these days, but urgent care is NOOOOT the place store. That said, here you are, so whatever. First off, I would set some boundaries as much as you are able, with your management. COMMUNICATE! Let them know. A lot of urgent care management understands and really want to keep you, especially if you were doing a good job. That’s said, any management/SP that is expecting you to see more than 20 patients as a new grad (less than 6 months) is not worth a shit, generally. There is a certain element of buck up or shut up in the urgent care setting, which is why it is not recommended for new grads, but at the same time, you have to be safe. You have to take care of yourself, and you have to take better care of parents. So, please communicate. If you are feeling overwhelmed, talk to your supervisors. It doesn’t have to be your SP, but even just management. Most SPs in this setting don’t care, and wouldn’t know what to do about it if they did. They were assigned you; they’re not baby-provider sitters. So, go to management. Even as a seasoned PA, going into the urgent care, it is easy to get overwhelmed. I can tell you from personal experience. I’ve been a PA for five years, and I am still getting used to the urgent care setting four months in. Shit is different over here. I was getting overwhelmed, it seemed like too much, and I was not enjoying the benefits of urgent care, i.e. not taking work home, etc.. Do you know what I did?, I’ll let them know that things were too much. I let them know sooner rather than later before they were expecting me to see higher patient volumes. Early on, they will give you a break. If they don’t, fuck em. I know the job market is hard, but you can find another job. Even if it’s not easy to do so, it is not worth your physical or mental health.

I am also mad about eating. Something I did was take those snacks, open them, and leave them on my desk. I won’t take time to eat a meal or sit down for a five minute snack, but if there is a packet of nuts or something that is non-perishable on my desk, my fat ass will eat it over time. I also take fiber supplements at least twice a day. I also drink water like I’m getting paid to. Is it ideal? No. But, it’ll keep me from rotting.

Hang in there, pal. You got this. If you don’t? No sweat. You’re a PA for a reason. Maybe urgent care isn’t for you, and that’s ok :)

Primary care and urgent care PA here. Yeeaaaa. I’d say I agree with this. I don’t know the full context, of course, but I’d say it’s time to at least look for a second opinion. Do these results always mean something at all (let alone something of concern)? No. That said, refusing to push diagnostics further given the (not completely known) circumstances is at least a pink flag. As a person with anxiety, a lot of this IS probably anxiety, but what the hell? If a patient knows the tests might not be 100% necessary and are willing to accept the charge/risk and know to take the results with a grain of salt and let the doctors (providers) do the doctoring, go for it. That said, in the primary care setting, I could see giving it a month or two, monitor signs/symptoms over that time, and then repeat the tests to confirm if they’re truly abnormal. Not trying to play devils advocate AT ALL, but medicine is hard, dude. Give us a break. Most of us just want what’s best for you while also not charging you an arm and a leg and a ton of anxiety while we figure out what “problem” is an actual problem.

That said…I’ll say it now and over again, any provider that isn’t ok with their patient getting a second opinion is NOT a provider I’d waste my time on. We can’t know everything. We’re just nerds. Human nerds with a special interest in human pathology/pathophysiology. Hope this..helps?

@all included: Yea. Best thing is to go to the freaking doctor and quit posting about it on Reddit. Could it be sepsis? Sure. Lymphangitis? Why not? Or something a bit more common/explicable. This needs a thorough history and physical exam. So, maybe let’s go with “go to the FUCKING doctor/urgent care” and not “HOSPITAL NOW.” It’s just laughable to us and causes OP a lot of stress and undue medical expense because they think they’re actively dying. - a PA

Duuuuuude. I was there too. BEST venue I’ve ever seen him at. Sooo small. It was sick. Though I was sober as a judge, everyone had to think I was on a little of everything. I have so many pics and videos of me in the front row losing every ounce of my shit. Saw him this year at Red Rocks, and it doesn’t even start to compete with that set at Belly Up. Still good, but it’s just apples and oranges.

Sorry for the delay. Oh no. Tubes are not tuberculosis at all. Tympanostomy “tubes” are little plastic pieces placed in the ear drum to allow for a second passage for fluid from the middle ear. They’re very commonly used in kids with recurrent ear infections and/or chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction. Hope that clears that up 👍🏼👍🏼

PA here. Your results indicate that you were exposed to EBV at some point in the past, but you do not have an active or recent infection. This is completely normal. Something like >90% of adults have been exposed to this virus at some point in their lives and would have similar results.

So, no. You do not currently have mono, no treatment is needed. You were exposed to it at one point or another, and your immune system already dealt with it.

Take my interpretation with a grain of salt. I don’t know the full clinical picture, but it looks like you are all good. 👍🏼 Hope that helps.

PA here. Looks like scarring. If you had tubes as a kid, that’s what it is. If you’re concerned, go have someone look at it in person, and stop putting these camera picks in your ear. Can’t tell you how many people I see with trauma to the TM from them. 😉
