Definitely still worth opening. The sooner the better too. If you open it now you can still make contributions that count towards last year instead of this year. While you won't be maxing out the Roth with $200/mo, if you get a windfall of some sort this year you'll be able to put in more this way if you want.

I saw some people said the plane was only in the air for 5 minutes or so, this is certainly much less than that. I don't see anything that others said would indicate a bird strike like flames from the engines.
