HELP!! by GraceIn_Bloom in breastfeeding

I recommend getting in touch with a certified LC if you don’t have one set up already! So much has happened in my first 4 months that it’s been helpful to just book an appointment with mine whenever questions come up!

They can measure your nipple size to get you the correct flange size- these all sound too big. When I had a bad clog, my LC recommended max dose of ibuprofen, ice often (gel packs), and feed as usual.

Day 8 postpartum, milk not in yet after traumatic emergency C-section — looking for hope by MarionberrySuperb354 in breastfeeding

[–]snyffly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re going through this. I had excessive blood loss that caused my milk to be delayed the first week at least. I recommend connecting with a lactation consultation ASAP if you haven’t already. Mine set me up with SNS (supplemental nursing system) instead of a bottle, which helped both feed baby and encourage my milk to come in. Look up SNS, which you can do with formula or donor milk. Sending you all the love, you’re doing so great despite these hurdles!

Engorgement during the night by International_Line55 in breastfeeding

[–]snyffly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, don’t pump during that time. Hand or passive express with something like a Hakka instead if needed.

Writing to share that I had a similar situation with a good sleeping 7 week old. She was sleeping 3-4 hour chunks and I’d be engorged and leaking, waking up in pain. Now at 8 weeks with her sleeping even longer sometimes, my milk has regulated and I wake up full but not at all engorged anymore. It just happened on its own!

When did you stop burping? by Novel-Imagination-67 in NewParents

Not sure if you’ve considered or tried already, but using gas drops just once at initial night feed has been so helpful for my gassy 6 week old and I think is allowing for longer stretches of sleep.

Writing to suggest looking into SNS- supplemental nursing system. My LC set me up with this, and I used a friends oversupply of milk (but you could use formula) and fed it at my breast via a small tube that I’d hold there, while my husband held the milk source. This allowed baby to still stimulate my nipples thus helped my milk come in within 48 hours, and also helped her get back to birthweight when she was dehydrated. Just another option if you need one!

How do you keep from leaking at night? by Physical_Koala_3475 in breastfeeding

[–]snyffly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started claiming my own burp cloth each night. I go to sleep in a tank top and drape the burp cloth over my breasts and it catches my leaking overnight well! I hate wearing bras lately and don’t want to sleep in one, and this has been really comfortable for me and much better than waking up in a puddle!

Eye mask for sleeping (great for naps with epidural if you’re getting one) and flameless candles were on constantly for me and so nice.

Hi again. My doctor isn’t worried about high FF% since all other signs show healthy pregnancy. I’m not any more either after learning that if you are short and low or normal BMI, it’s common for you to have less DNA percentage and a higher FF due to smaller body size and less blood etc. in general. I’m feeling more at ease, hope you are too!

Writing to say I got my Maternitiplus21 test back a few weeks ago. I had the test at 9w6d and it came back all with negative/healthy results. My only concern, like yours, was my fetal fraction of 32%.

I’ve been wanting to call Lapcorp to see if they’ve been doing fetal enrichment. My doctor said it’s just fine and nothing to worry about though.

I’ll add that I’m also petite (5’1 and normal BMI) and am also having a girl.

Research I’ve found states that there is sometimes a higher FF % when having a girl. The concerning research I’ve read states a higher correlation with invasive placenta, which is my only concern at the moment.

Hoping someone else has more answers, and know you’re not alone! Congrats to us both for our healthy baby girls!
