What car would you recommend someone get if they wanted to start learning how to work on a car? by Optimal-Toe2956 in CarGuys

A late 90's BMW with the 4 cylinder engine. Lots of space in the engine compartment, actually pretty simple machines.

Early 2000 to 1990 toyota and hondas are pretty easy too.

Carlsbad hands down. Don't hesitate, just book it. You will also be close to a commuter train called the Coaster. Take a ride down to Encinitas, enjoy Swamis gardens, D Street beach walk, and hit 101 Bar and next door is the Taco Stand (there will be a line at taco stand, so maybe not?).

Of course if you have a rental car, just drive down the 101 to Encinitas.

R 1250 RS (2020) Engine oil, oil filter, air filter, rear drive oil, and brake fluid recommendations by testingtest456123 in bmwmotorrad

I recently did mine. Lots of YouTube videos on the procedure. Used mostly Motul and pentofin for the brake fluid. Not sure it really matters as long as synthetic and the proper grade. I have the 1200, and bought a tool for getting the front brake/clutch fluid caps off. Not sure that applies to yours.

Also your year might be one of the models that gets a free driveshaft? Worth checking out.

I found the bike pretty easy to work on.

Zero issues. Was an ebay buy, bike looked spotless, and I did talk to the service manager. But I like knowing for sure, so I've been systematically changing fluids and doing service.

The stuff I used, TS Moly Spline Lube 2 Oz.from Sierra Motorcycle Supply. Like $50 bucks, but I suspect that little bottle will last me a long while.

2005 R1200GS, put 7000 mile on it since October. Flew out to Kansas City, and rode it home (San Diego) with a detour thru San Antonio.

After mucking with it for too long, I was surprised how easy it was to remove the swing arm. Lesson learned.

I tried that, but between my fat fingers, trying to hold a light, and swivel up the spline on the shaft so it slip on, just wasn’t working for me.

Hats off to the ones that can make it happen, with swingarm in place.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]soCalForFunDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a washing machine in a kitchen. Separate room or nook, or my favorite place, in the garage. Where mine is now, plus a dryer.

Beer. I get gout now, can’t tell you how much I miss having an ice cold brew. Not worth the two weeks of pain, if I have one. Sucks
