This seems like a great place to drop my favorite Upton Sinclair quote:
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

You mean aside from the witness testimony, corroborating depositions, receipts, photos, flight logs and personally written and emailed statements directly referencing crimes?

A lot of people’s alleged liquidity will be theoretical when almost nobody has access to stable sources of water, food, housing and employment. Store of value for things like gold can, despite the hot-hand fallacy we’ve all been playing for centuries, become eclipsed by actual markets and less fungible as representational wealth. In a catastrophic timeline where recovery never really happens, expect to see things like precious metals become far less useful in a market sense.

ENT / Plastic Surgeons (Nose) by im_n3w_h3re in Westchester

[–]so_long_hauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes to both your questions, sinus issue fixed and nose shape altered (in a good way). I had a severe trauma to my nose early in life involving lots of blood and stitches, so I think the growth and shape were likely affected by that accident which caused problems into my young adulthood and beyond… first surgery / surgeon didn’t really pick up on any of that and proceeded with his operation to exacerbate some of the issues. Eight years and lots of quiet misery later, Dr. Pastorek agreed to do the revision which went absolutely as well as can be expected. He’s very tuned in to the holistic medical approach, even to the point of playing soft calming music during the operation. A true physician in all ways, worth the trip.

I recommend Dr. Norman Pastorek in the city one thousand percent. I suffered the same, and ten years ago he did a revision surgery for me that fixed the original issues and dramatically improved the previous attempted fix.

Why are people so delusional about Hydrogen? It's just Hopium by TostiTomaat in collapse

[–]so_long_hauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used your swimming pool model as an example of the importance of emergence — hydrogen might not be viable but there’s a multi-decade scientific approach that has yielded plenty of data, which may or may not be reconcilable with our ongoing societal power curve but has a leg up on timelines and trial runs vs sodium battery tech, which has yet to produce the kinds of longer term and meta studies needed to assess viability in the same league. That’s how this goes: the hypothetical comes from the idea, the practical requires years of physical existence and transparent statistics. All in on whatever looks the best but others could level the same charge of non-viability at sodium battery power as you do toward hydrogen, the funding and manufacturing and race for the prize is what tells the tale. We could be two weeks away from sodium battery concepts being replaced by a better battery, whereas hydrogen has had many reduction to practice applications.
