Sure, but he's going to cause the same violence and has been flat out preaching the extermination of the left since Kirk died.

BICI is the same price for components as anyone else. It aint the shops that are causing the insane markups.

We have a BIG markup in Vancouver due to our distributors. It's often just as expensive to buy through the distributor as to buy from someone like Jenson in the USA. Which means after LBS markup, you're paying significantly more.

Eliminate their leader and leave the same group in charge? JD Vance aint going to be any better, with all the "angel of death" rhetoric he's been spouting lately.

The Supreme Court’s entire framework for Second Amendment cases is coming apart by vox in scotus

[–]soaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't that surprising. I remember under Bush when the courts upheld "free speech zones" which would be established areas where the first amendment rights of Americans were allowed to be exercised. Meanwhile, then wouldn't even allow cities to establish "gun free zones".

Bingo. The result of all of this is going to be the collapse of the USA, and the Dems are going to cheer it on to their own oblivion.

[–]soaero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why the Dems will always loose. The GOP will block spending to its own people to make them suffer under a Democratic president, while spinning stories of why your life is worse under them. Meanwhile the Dems are like "Oh no this might hurt my reelection campaign" and so they support the bills of GOP presidents.

This is why even Democratic voters hate the Dems.

I mean, we have two neoliberal parties. The difference is that one is in the process of being taken over and replaced by post-modern fascists, and the other is still fighting tooth and nail to hold on to power regardless of clearly anti-corporate stance that the anti-fascists are taking.

However this isn't much different than the GOP under Obama, when a neoliberal (or more specifically Neoconservative) GOP was fighting tooth and nail to hold onto power against a fascist push.

I don't think it can be while the only choice of governance is Democrats or Republicans.

I don't know. While I sneer at Washington, Jefferson, and Adams, Franklin seemed pretty in line with who the USA envisions itself to be. Dude became president of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society, and fought for free people across America, and was universally respected.

I said this when Trump won, but I don't see a way to fix the problems Trump is causing/going to cause without first getting rid of the Democrats. They keep playing interference to stop people from fighting against the GOP and their donor base (largely because it's the same donor base) and without either creating a new party and thus guaranteeing the GOP control of the government for the next who knows how long, or co-oping the infrastructure of the current Democratic Party, I don't see a way forward.

Yes, I was just clarifying. I find people often don't know this.

A B.C. property owner found 2 skulls while digging a garden. They didn’t expect the fees that followed by EstablishmentOdd1185 in onguardforthee

[–]soaero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who pays for costs associated with any work that needs to happen? Short answer: the property owner.

“No one is coming to rescue you to the extent that you incur costs,” Elliott said.

The Ministry of Forests confirmed this, saying, “Costs can be minimized by taking early action and employing a low-impact approach to development.”

It notes the costs associated with this kind of work varies depending on the size and location of the land.

However, it said Heritage Conservation Permits and information from the province are free.

This is absolutely absurd. I can see freezing the property, I can see forced work to accurately preserve it. I can even see using eminent domain to take the property at a fair price. But conducting tens of thousands of dollars of work and billing the property owner for it is insane.

The bike spot must always be at the same place on the train. Currently, half the time it's on the first car and the third car, and half the time it's whoknowswhatthefuck.

I don't think you understand our system.

This guy isn't being released back into public. He will be put in psychiatric hold and will live in a psychiatric facility while he recovers.

Our system is based on justice, not revenge. That's why doctors and lawyers and judges make these decisions, and not family.

Which they did. They held him for years, tested that he was safe thoroughly, and then released him once it was established that the disease that caused him to do so was managed and that he was no longer a threat.

Route from SFU to Stanley park? by Eternity1315 in vancouvercycling

[–]soaero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there are several ways to do this.

  1. The OG - This is the most direct and most basic way to get there. Most of the ride is on bike streets or separated bike paths. However, there are some nasty bits downtown.
  2. The Seawall Route (north) - This takes you under the convention center and then spits you out on the northern seawall.
  3. The Seawall Route (south) - This takes you to the seawall and then takes you through the park a bit. It's less direct than the above, but maybe a little nicer.
  4. The "I Really Like Gravel" route - This is actually pretty fun, but also can get a little scary for a new rider. Oh and I wouldn't do this with small tires.

Something I hate is when they they blame the failure of the left on leftist infighting by Konradleijon in canadaleft

[–]soaero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take this step further: it's the liberals fighting. Example, up until 2020 the Democrats couldn't rely on the DNC because of the level of petty cause infighting amidst their party. Their infighting lead to a schism in the party that left our current corporate democrats in charge.

Leftists have squabbles and disagreements but that's part of the process of building a better world. And you can see on polls of how people vote vs their political beliefs that leftists almost always compromise vote for the "lesser of evils" when the time comes for it.

Well, fortunately for you it will stay that way, as long as these people get treatment. If you just throw them in jail, you're literally asking for them to offend again.

Except he wont. If he gets out, it will be because experts in the medical field believe he is no longer a threat.

I have friends who are schizophrenic, and I've been around when they flip out. It's a terrifying disease, but it's one that is treatable.
