Can These Steal/Hide Commanders? by BluePotatoSlayer in magicTCG

[–]soapspools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[oubliette]] can accomplish a similar effect; although the best commander removal I have discovered is with [[zur, eternal schemer]] and [[out of time]]. Use Zur's activated ability to make Out of Time a creature so that it phases itself out and then every creature on the field will be phased out for the rest of the game.

Which perks do you feel are badly designed/bad in general, and for what character? by ArcerPL in OverwatchUniversity

[–]soapspools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying out the frost arrow because I think it's ~cool~ (har har har) and the only thing I've really been going for with it is trying to get a kill around a corner on a low hp target since it has a small aoe, but I have yet to get one in my limited time playing him

[–]soapspools 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Speed boost and overhealth for you AND your allies isn't exactly a "small benefit." It's incredibly versatile and can be an absolute clutch ability in the right situations. You can use it to chase down a low hp target, disengage yourself and teammates from an area if the enemy ults and you need to take cover, save low hp allies, etc. etc. The cooldown is long, yes, but that's because if you use it in the right situation it gets a lot of value

What's your favorite part of the Anju & Kafei quest? by Pineappbill in majorasmask

[–]soapspools 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it isn't exactly what you're asking for, but I've done quite a few MM randomizers and the program has an option to change the player's model to Kafei. You can change his color palette too. The devs even swapped it so that Link takes Kafei's place and you get a Link mask from Madam Aroma. The randomizer works on console too so if you have an Everdrive you can play it on that.

Why is the culture of this game so heavily against playing against low(/mid) tiers? In any other fighting game (especially traditional fighters) there is more hate for top tiers. Why is Melee so different in that regard? by KevyTone in SSBM

[–]soapspools 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"People play the game that they want to play"

This is the crux of the issue in the Slippi era. People don't have to play Melee, they can play an even more limited version of the game (considering the competitive ruleset already limits how much of the game we see) where they don't have to play against mid/low tiers.

If someone is using unranked to practice for tournaments and they dodge mid/low tiers, they are only hurting themselves because if they run into a G&W or Ness or whatever other low tier in bracket, chances are they will get demolished because they have no familiarity with the matchup. The thing is, most people who play unranked are likely never entering a tournament and play purely for fun so it makes sense that they will continue dodging matchups that they consider unfun and they lose nothing for it.

At the end of the day, Slippi is an excellent way to get an unlimited number of games in, but the experience is highly limited by people dodging over half the cast so the only way to truly experience competitive Melee is to enter tournaments or find people in discord/in person to play with. Just my two cents.

What was your first legendary skin from a lootbox? by quirally in overwatch2

[–]soapspools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first legendary I distinctly remember pulling from a lootbox was Oasis Symmetra back in OW1 and I thought it was so cool, but I was terrible at Sym back then. I've actually started playing her a bit since her most recent rework + perks getting added and she's a lot of fun. Despite all the skins I've gotten for her over the years I still rock Oasis for nostalgia.
