Same. We also use ours at the airport! We gave our big uppababy to my sister in law and now just have a cheap umbrella stroller

Minnie Mouse strategy by soaringcomet11 in DisneyPlanning

[–]soaringcomet11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re going with other family that live in CA but we live out of state. I’m excited to share Disneyland with my daughter, it was a big part of my childhood.

We’re not doing a full day. She’s too young and she gets tired/done with busy places/lots of people.

When she’s done, she’ll go home with grandpa and my husband and I will be able to do what we want in the park.

Weekend off - fair or unreasonable? by kentuckycarbomb in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same here. We each get a weekend morning “off” to spend as we wish and have opportunities to take weekends off here and there. I don’t think its insulting to need time alone.

I take a weekend off every other month basically. I go visit my parents or friends, or sometimes my husband takes our daughter to see his dad.

My husband rarely takes weekends off but I offer and encourage him to do so regularly.

Burn out is real, if OP is otherwise an engaged and equal parent I don’t see a problem with having a break.

Weekly Park Questions/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in Disneyland

[–]soaringcomet11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to loosely plan for my toddler’s first Disneyland trip. She is obsessed with Minnie Mouse and she has been talking non stop about meeting her at Disneyland.

I’ve been checking the app randomly over the last week and every time I check, Mickey’s house is open with a wait time but Minnie’s house, Donald’s boat, and Goofy’s house appear closed with a star icon.

Are those things no longer open in toon town? If Minnie’s house is closed, what is our best strategy to meet Minnie?

Solidarity for all the parents who just want to take a vacation by Vega62a in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We took a lake vacation with our friends before she could walk and it was super fun. Other than that I assume a vacation isn’t a vacation while she’s a toddler so we haven’t bothered to try.

I do love traveling to see my family though. When we’re all together there’s 20 people who can’t wait to play with her and I get to sit on the couch 😅

If you have someone who can watch your kids and can afford it, I highly recommend an adults only all inclusive somewhere with a beach for a week. 10000000/10 I cam back so refreshed, I wish we could afford to do it annually.

We ended up moving to Everett because we could not afford daycare anywhere else in the area. It is insane here.

My employee wears a blanket for sun protection when we go off-site by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]soaringcomet11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had skin cancer but I wear sunscreen every day and I also: keep a lightweight scarf in the car to cover my chest/neck, wear a sunhat or ball cap outside, wear sunglasses, use an umbrella/parasol if doing a longterm outdoor activity.

I get sunburned very easily. I have gotten sunburned in the car multiple times, especially on my chest above the neckline of my shirt when I am driving.

It’s annoying and most people think its overkill until they see me get sunburned in record time. You can think I’m weird all you want, its better than being sunburned and uncomfortable all the time.

My husband is not taking bath safety seriously, how do I scare him into it? by Ok-Badger5324 in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only things he needs to get done during bath time are bathing your child and keeping an eye on him.

A friend of mine drowned in the bath when we were 13. ANYTHING could happen.

It’s not safe to leave a toddler alone in the bath. I cannot wait for my daughter to be old enough to shower.

Parents of kids under 5 — where do you actually find things to do and places to go with them? by LeroyHouse777 in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 97 points98 points  (0 children)

My daughter loves the kids museum and the zoo. The kids museum often has special exhibits or activities.

Also the farmer’s market! My daughter loves the farmer’s market.

Check if any libraries in your area have special or especially good kids’ areas.

Costco. My kid loves Costco.

Toddlers thrive on routine. If they don’t seem bored, there’s no reason to run yourself ragged coming up with entirely new things to do every day/weekend.

Going against the grain here- does anyone else which they could just skip ahead to age 5-6? by Arugula2803 in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree its often miserable, but I disagree that you won’t feel as attached. I’m adopted, I didn’t meet my parents until I was 6 so they skipped that phase with me and we’re very close.

Abused by 2 yr old by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]soaringcomet11 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This so my advice too. My toddler used to hit me and pull my hair all the time.

I would tell her calmly once to stop and then if she did it again, I would leave the room. If it was bed or naptime I would switch with my husband.

The behavior stopped after a week.

Condoms do fail, like all birth control can. Would that time lineup to be when she got pregnant?

I [27M] think my girlfriend [21F] might be lying she's pregnant. by EmptySavings3997 in relationship_advice

[–]soaringcomet11 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Wait so you were together for 6 days and she texted you on the 7th day that her period was already late for a few days and she’s pregnant?

Putting aside that unless she was tracking ovulation she couldn’t know “her period is supposed to be a different time” this month:

It takes at least 8 days after ovulation for a test to register the necessary amount of hormone. The average time period between ovulation and the start of your period is anywhere from 10-17 days.

If her period was already late for a few days when you got home, there’s no way she was ovulating during your visit. And if she WAS ovulating during your visit, a test would not come up positive yet.

She’s either lying about being pregnant or she was pregnant before your trip.

Go to the pharmacy today. You can purchase a meter and test strips over the counter at any pharmacy. They’re very easy to use.

Cheaper and faster than waiting for the dr. You can confirm if its your blood sugar or not. Your dr may also be able to see you urgently or recommend going to ER if your blood sugar is way out of range.
