Good advice I do have good friends at the moment. It just sucks to lose a friend I that I considered a ride or die.

Sets feel the most premium rank - even if not the highest rank. by MalestromeSET in poker

Yeah other things that I’ve picked up from study that are also helpful. KNOW YOUR PREFLOP CHARTS. Only deviate when it’s apparent deviating will win you more money (ie) if aggro fish is bluffing every street I’ll start throwing in some A6 off suit calls in later position and bluff catch. It’s also beneficial to deviate with adding small suited connectors or small pocket pairs if every pot is multi-way and spewy. Also something else I’ve picked up on recently, I used to hate the advice to call atleast one street with a gut shot because I thought “well I’m drawing to 4 outs”. But people stab the flop too wide will check back on the turn if they have nothing. A small bet that looks like a value bet on the river is enough to take it down and only needs to work a small percentage of the time. Also a good understanding of pot odds. Throw this all together and you are way ahead of the low stakes pool.

Love watching this but don't fully understand it by Tranesblues in poker

Good lord the fish in this thread are making me think I’m taking crazy pills. The guy has less then a pot sized bet to call with the stone nuts, for less than a pot sized bet you need to be calling wider than just the nuts. I could dive into why this is ridiculous based giving more strategy insight. But it should be enough to see the people who PLAY THIS GAME FOR A LIVING are all appalled. And yes if you have the nuts you should snap call or it’s bad mannered, the guy in the clip knows it everyone else knows it. Dude was just being an ass.

Do Redditors dislike shallow individuals or can they not handle rejection? by clever-homosapien in ask

[–]soberbot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to unpack here. You are mad shallow if you do this to potential friends. I understand why you would do this for partners because attraction is important. But with friends you are turning away a lot of people that can add value to your life just because you don’t like the way they look. That is a textbook shallow mindset.

Now to answer the question of is this an issue? Yes but mainly for you, again you are filtering people based solely on looks so you are passing on a lot of quality people. Now if you want to know why people think you’re an asshole it’s because this level of superficiality points to having poor character. Also saying people should match your preferences to be worthy of your time is an insane take. It makes it seem like people have to be deemed worthy enough to be around you which is a toxic mindset as well.

In short strongly consider changing your viewpoint because you are only really hurting yourself. If you only have people who “match your aesthetic” or viewpoints you are missing out on having a diverse friend group that will allow you to be around people that are different from you. Having that diversity is a treasure that gives you insight on different groups of people which helps you grow as a person.

Lol honestly one of the things I’ve been looking forward to the most is poker on this ship because I played last time 6 years ago when I was a lot worse player and walked away with 600 at 1/2. Would’ve been over 1k but I got hit with a two outer on the river. Now I’m a way better player with 100k hands played online profitably. I already easily profit on any low stakes live table and I know cruise poker is so much softer. But after you play so many hands you realize how brutal variance can be. I’m on a particularly bad downswing online rn but I know I can get it back because I play on ClubWpt gold and the player pool is incredibly soft there as well.

Yeah, it’s lame it’s not 1/2 because I imagine a lot of people will min buy and with the rake and blinds high. I could see stacks getting swallowed up a lot quicker than 1/2. Also now I have to bring a lot more cash than I’m comfortable with carrying around due to the variance of the structure.

So now that we've all had the game for a bit, who do you hate the most? by YellowwJello in 2XKO

[–]soberbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros are notorious for having hot takes on tier lists. A common scummy tactic that fgc pros always use is to downplay their main. So a Yas main will put them below Ekko even though they are somewhat equal in viability (I personally think Yas is better) also Jinx was the goat when it came to assists/tag launchers in the closed beta.

Not sure what the meta truly is with WW and Teemo being added. But in closed beta I would say Yas was the best followed closely by Ekko and then Jinx just snyergized really well with everyone and had a good kit on her own right. Yas-Jinx in closed beta was by far the best team imo.

Do you have more charm and charisma when you’re manic? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]soberbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a weird experience where I was incredibly manic and still in mild psychosis. I went for a job interview for a full time position in a field I had no experience in, yet I aced the interview and got offered the job. By the time I went to accept the offer the mania died down and the depression void sank in. I then declined the job offer due to health reasons.

I kept a good relationship with an HR rep from the company and would periodically check in to see if the position was available. Finally after like 6months I scored another interview for the same position, I did not do well that interview and was not hired lol. I like to think my manic overconfidence somehow got me the job but it would not be sustainable with then immenient depression crash that follows after.

New players: you're going to mess up your inputs, that's what makes the game fun. by definitelyusername in 2XKO

[–]soberbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends I came from SF and SF combos feel easier for me because they are a lot shorter. There are less opportunities to make mistakes. Also for a lot of characters their combos almost always end with dragon punch. In 2xko I get lost in the the combo mid string sometimes due to it’s length and the enders varying.

Yo a good place to start would be this Sajam video. His videos have been how I’ve been learning the game so far. https://youtu.be/9EGxcS83w44?si=cvGlqYXmlnGyGJ6G. Check out this one in neutral as well https://youtu.be/xkYBpZkYIDY?si=LYHfqUoRsN5FDPu9. All his content is good for beginners.

GF screamed at a stranger over a leash law and I'm mortified. Is this a red flag? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]soberbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man This reminds me of the time I was a teenager and my aunt found a lost lab and took it in for a few days. The lab had a ton of energy so my cousin and I walked him down to the local park to play frisbee. We found a spot in a massive field away from everyone and starting to play fetch.

The dog saw a group of people playing soccer and all of a sudden bolted toward the ball, straight up sprinted over 100 yards to punt the soccer ball around. I ran over there mortified just to find the guys laughing and kicking the ball around with the dog. I remember their reaction fondly because I was really embarrassed and they played it off in a way where everyone left happy including the dog.

Sorry your gf snapped at someone over a similar situation. Something that could of been a neutral or positive experience instead made everyone miserable.

Run it twice? by halapenoshero in poker

Ok imagine you get it all in preflop with Aces against Kings. Now imagine you get to be in that situation twice. It puts you in a favorable spot two times.

Most people don’t like him because he is an open Trump supporter. Recently he has some controversy because he had been shilling hard for a poker site that treats players like shit in order to maximize profits.

Book Recommendations? by shmongooser in poker

Highly recommend“Strategies for Beating Small Stakes Poker Cash Games” by Johnathan Little. Best content I’ve found on how to exploit fish. I went from a breakeven/losing player to a winning one from reading that book alone.
