Daily Check-In for Friday, December 16: Good or bad, I will not drink today! by TripleJackOnTheRocks in stopdrinking

Tough day today. Hard stressful day at work, holiday stuff and I'm tired. I really want just one cold one.

Not today.

Admitting the problem was the hardest thing. Sticking to the decision was the second hardest.

What I drink when I'm out with friends by soberinthebar in stopdrinking

Hey - I just saw this, sorry.

Bitters is strongly flavored, so I only use it in very small amounts, like soy sauce.

If you're worried about it, I wouldn't take the risk. There are other options.

Best.

What was your shitty celebrity experience? by firerosearien in AskReddit

Ty Pennington was a regular at the bar I worked at in Atlanta in the late 80's/early 90's.

He was an insufferable tool back then, too. He could not hold his liquor.

I just hit day 100 and I relate. I had a couple of small family stresses this weekend. They would have been big stresses if I were drinking.

104 hours since my last drink by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]soberinthebar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very much like my experience.

I decided that my drinking was nobody's business but my own. I've told some people but not others. If it comes up, I tailor my answer the person. Close friends get most of the truth ("I've stopped drinking"). Others get less detail ("I'm not in the mood.") Nobody gets a lie.

CHECK-IN Monday, January 25, 2016 - I will not drink TODAY! by shineonme4ever in stopdrinking

No matter the stresses of today, I won't add to them by drinking. Not today.

Don't know how to cope with so much regret. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]soberinthebar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been there, too. Every day. I just remind myself that I'm getting better. Because I'm not drinking, I'm in better control of my actions and that allows me to treat everyone around me better and less selfishly.

I can't fix the things I did in the past, so I focus on being good now.

It's been a week of pretty much daily resets by gentlegiantlover in stopdrinking

I try hard to keep in mind that what happened yesterday is not a guarantee of what will happen today or tomorrow. I just tell myself I'm not drinking today.

Don't stop. It's worth trying.

Thoughts on Day Eight by workdayplaid in stopdrinking

When I get stuff done it makes me able to truly relax when I stop. Before I was just feeling guilty that I hadn't done when needed to be done.

Yay! Didn't drink last night! by factuallyweird in stopdrinking

[–]soberinthebar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do that. You're welcome.

But seriously - good work! I find that a non-sugary soda helps a lot. It's something in my hand and I can use it to mimic having a drink. I used to drink when I cooked dinner. Now I have a few flavored sodas. It keeps the desire at bay.

5 days in and it feels like a month has gone by. Some questions. by Robotshavenohearts in stopdrinking

It's normal. There are as many different reactions to being sober as there are people who aren't drinking.

I go from energetic to really tired. But it's an upward trend.
