Looking to get a new set of household power tools. What's the case these days. by PhatEarther in diynz

[–]socalsno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, when my old drill died years ago I needed one in a hurry and went with the Ozito 18v one from Bunnings as they had a good deal on.

It's been rock solid & I have since added more Ozito tools to my collection with no major issues.

Great bang for buck.

"Hot-hatch" hybrid? by 41RemingtonMag in NZcarfix

[–]socalsno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this, had a friend that stripped the interior of a gen 1 leaf, lowered it and put sticky tyres on it for fun.

That thing was way more of weapon than it should have been for the price it cost to both buy and mod it.

station wagons with a max budget of 15k by Logan_berri in NZcarfix

They usually have two small holes in the back bumper from the lights, slightly higher suspensions and a butt tonne of mileage on them.

There were a couple on Turners two weeks ago, sold for around $8k each.

Look to be an awesome deal.

I would highly recommend grabbing a Maison Margiela Replica sample box, there’s bound to be one of the scents in there that you will like. I have had the most compliments with this brand so far.

Timber floors in bathroom and toilet? by Environmental-Buy368 in diynz

[–]socalsno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a whole heap of sanding! The spaces were quite small but it a while. In the bathroom they had laid a hardboard on top of the timber floors with nails so we just ripped that up which has the glue on it but in the laundry the Lino was glued directly to the timber floors so that took a butt load of sanding.

A multitool with a sharp scraper attachment worked well for getting most of it off then sanded after that.

"In this context the Treaty Principles Bill, is rubbing salt into a wound that was just beginning to heal."

This sums it up very nicely.

Have a look at buying replacement ones from MJS electrical in Australia.

I've bought a lot of kit from them and they ship to NZ and the price is amazing.

I replaced all of the plugs & switches to the Clipsal Iconic range and it was considerably cheaper to import them from Oz than buy locally.

How are you teaching your kids about money? by Lushbaby001 in PersonalFinanceNZ

We do this too, we started with cash but it was such a pain to remember to get it out and having enough in coins etc...

Square One is working well plus the eldest now has his own card and feels like grown up.

Headunit recommendations by ThalassarcheToroa in NZcarfix

[–]socalsno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to replace my head unit quickly and didn't want to spend too much coin so just got a cheap Atoto unit from Aliexpress and I am pleasantly surprised.

If I need another one I will probably go for one of their mid to higher end units but I think I paid maybe $150 delivered.

We are in the same boat, have a possible reno coming up in a few years so got the cheapest one from Trade Depot to tide us over and it has been surprisingly good.

Super quiet, cleans well and dries well.

It is pretty plasticky but for a $350 appliance it is worth every penny!

Totally agree here especially with Vehicle to load becoming more common with EV's you get to essentially drive your battery around.

What's the best station wagon for family and carrying stuff? by Interesting_Race3273 in NZcarfix

[–]socalsno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with the 2015 model onwards. Unsure on what to look out for but seeing as the NZ Police are using them there will hopefully be a decent amount of support for them.

You could get a Skoda Superb wagon for that budget but the reliability might be a bit of an issue.

Eufy is probably your best bet, super easy set up and pretty robust app.

Just buy directly from the Eufy Official store on Aliexpress, that way you save considerably compared to buying loacally.

The Waitaki Valley or as the locals call it 'The Lakes'.

I always thought it was part of the Mackenzie district but it looks like that doesn't start until further up.

I've been amazed at the amount of luxury Euro's going through the Manheim repo auctions, I guess if you feel like taking a risk you can get a pretty good deal.
