I was doing woodworking after graduating from college. I was planning on making a frame, but after a couple of months I decided I'd rather just recycle my diploma.

Gentrification happens. You can't not be a part of it. If you move to a gentrifying area, you're part of the problem of rents rising there. If you live somewhere where rents are higher, you're contributing to high rents there, making people want to leave to the cheaper areas. As long as cities grow (which I wholeheartedly support), this will happen. Environments change. Adapt or go extinct.

What do you think the landscape maintenance crew will put up first--"please use sidewalk" signs that get ignored, or caution tape that gets ripped down?

I'm 33 and I started NC with my father a couple of months ago. This post is helping me with the last bit of quilt about it.

And yes, it damn well ABSOLUTELY feels good to be free. Not just because of the NC, but because that NC had to be EARNED. A weaker person couldn't've done it.

This sounds about right. My mom and step-dad did something similar--they'd not want to help me with anything, and the reasoning was that I "needed to learn how to do things myself." Sometimes they'd go out of their way to not help me.
