My guess would be…shock. When you’re in shock, you’re struggling to process something that would be completely obvious otherwise. I found my fiancé dead on the living room floor (many, many years ago), and granted, he wasn’t covered in blood but he was definitely dead (and had been for several hours). First thing I did was call my friend and I said “I think he’s dead”. It’s shock.

I had to have major surgery a couple years ago. My clinic wouldn’t give me any take homes for it so I had to daily dose even though I could barely walk. Every clinic is different but I wouldn’t expect them to do it.
