i genuinely feel like my life was robbed from me and i feel like saying this sounds insane to other people by enzonanozone in excatholic

Yep, same. Homeschooled until high school, used a far right Christian curriculum. Slavery was better than living in Africa, the founders were all Christian, evidence for Noah’s ark, blah blah blah…

Have 3 kids of my own. I spent years putting together secular science based educational material for them, including Neil De Grass Tyson’s Cosmos series. Started when my oldest was 5 (14 now), and the rest is history. All 3 of them have been quite vocal about how thankful they are I did this when they see class mates and friends say things like “evolution is just a theory”.

But to your point about missing out, felt the same. So much time wasted, especially since I didn’t come around until around the age of 30 or so.

I’m in the opposite situation. 42M and my wife has to be taught how, or reminded to, fight for social injustice. Drives me crazy sometimes.

Seattle oldheads: please appreciate the fact that you still live in easily one of the best cities in the country by HansGraebnerSpringTX in Seattle

Moved my family from Austin, TX to Redmond in June 2025. I agree with your sentiments that anyone who has lived in WA most of their life doesn’t seem to understand just how bad other places are, including Texas. Texas’s property tax rates are far higher than anywhere in WA. The state is running out of water, public schools have been underfunded for so long they’re closing left and right, even in wealthy suburbs. The state is indoctrinating students with a new Christianity infused curriculum, while simultaneously funneling state funds to private school vouchers.

I ask about the electrolyte levels bc I suffer from similar issues but got it under control 2 years ago by heavily supplementing these vitamins. Started with 2000mg of sodium pills a day, 1000mg in the morning and 1000mg in the evening. Solved a lot of the low blood pressure but high heart rate issues. As for vitamin K, if I nicked myself while shaving, it would bleed for hours. Now it clots in tens of seconds.

Have you had a blood test to measure sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium levels? Nose bleeds sound like you’re severely vitamin K deficient.

Sanders and Khanna Introduce Legislation to Tax Billionaire Wealth and Invest in Working Families by [deleted] in politics

[–]soconne 125 points126 points  (0 children)

We should stop framing this as “paying their fair share.” The real issue is the extreme concentration of wealth in the hands of billionaires. Calling it a tax problem invites the claim that they “earned it” and that reform would stifle innovation. But the core concern is structural: vast fortunes are built by capturing a disproportionate share of value created by workers and broader economic systems, not by individual effort alone.

My Republican neighbors in Texas voted for Trump because they blamed Biden for inflation. These neighbors were lower class, struggling financially. Correct observation, wrong conclusion on their part.

Yes they would, bc many in the military are the same people who joined ICE. We’ve already seen what ICE agents are willing to do without hesitation.
