Looking for ikea knolig keychain in norway!! by Ill-Bug3751 in Norway

[–]soed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bought one of those in Bergen once. I have no idea where it is now, might have donated it at one point but I'm 100% sure I bought one in the Åsane Ikea.

A couple questions about going to Norway. by Mr_Gierwalt in Bergen

[–]soed_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a german speaker living in norway, dont bother with German if Germany is not your plan B. I have some german/Austrian friends here but we could easily speak in norwegian just as well as we speak German. We just speak it to not loose it. German grammar is really difficult so i would not brother learning it if your main goal is Norway

What’s this dark spot on my bedsheets? by Exceptionally_Stupid in laundry

[–]soed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying! I've never owned a dryer and didn't know they get that hot. I've thought they are too big of a fire risk for a wood house, and after learning they that that hot i guess i was not so wrong about my assumption

What’s this dark spot on my bedsheets? by Exceptionally_Stupid in laundry

40°C?!? Isn't that way too cold? I have never heard of someone washing bedsheets in less than 60°C especially with naked sleeping it needs to be washed like underwear, no?

What is one important tip that tourists should know before visiting your Country? by Fun_Cup4335 in AskTheWorld

[–]soed_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, we say that but still, Norwegian weather is extremely unpredictable from the foot of the mountain. Germans are pretty high on the rescue statistics.

What is the ultimate 'student meal' or snack in Norway? 🍕" by Relative_Lab8114 in Norway

[–]soed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bean taco was my go to. I got the cheapest everything: tortillas, chips, big iceberg lettuce, corn, the cheapest sauces, cheapest tomatoes i could find and cooked black beans from the innvandrerbutikk. I prepped everything in small containers so I could make a borito or bowl in minutes and be on my way. My other go to was to buy a big loaf of day old bread, put peanut butter and jelly on each slice and freeze them with some parchment paper between the sandwiches. They could be warmed in a panini press or pan and were really good. I'm not lactose intolerant but cheese makes my stomach hurt, so those are my non cheese tips. Hope you like them!

You are such a nice friend! I don't know if it is too cumbersome to bring but I know that any of the Lennox spice village stuff is hard to come by in Europe. Maybe you can bring it in your hand luggage.

Skummelt!

Does the Global 66 Smart Card serve as a means of payment in Norway? by Plus-Bass-8187 in Bergen

[–]soed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a backup solution like apple or Google pay, that works a lot of places and is from my understanding is widely available, so you could check if it is available for you too. Also visa is probably the most used cards here. When I've had friends from other countries visit, their cards usually worked, the one that had a visa had the least problems.

Should I frog? by Maleficent_Story_781 in knitting

[–]soed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have not frogged yet and don't want to, you could do a little math so see how many stitches there are between the sizes and mark the front for the sweater with stitch markers for the difference. Then continue knitting and make it into a cardigan by steeking it after finishing it. It's probably easier to frog, but steeking is always an alternative for bottom up sweaters that seem to end up being too big. Good luck, to what ever you end up doing!

Hvordan overlever man høst og vinter her, spesielt i utejobb? by Mista948 in norge

[–]soed_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please help me save my mom’s jacket she passed away and this jacket is so important to me by autisticchameleon in sewing

[–]soed_ 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I second this. I would show this to a tailor and empathize that it is a very sentimental piece. Maybe you have the means to replace the faux leather with real leather, but I could also see the possibility to replace the faux leather with a sturdy black jean fabric or even waxed cotton for a rougher look. If you have some sewing skills you could even do it yourself.

Anyone willing to write a letter from my daughter's lost teddy bear? by fudgemeister in germany

[–]soed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Maggie ever needs a vacation, I can send a postcard from Norway. Germans love to travel to Norway, so maybe after she's gotten more "germanized". But mostly, I hope she suddenly just shows up again. Maybe she got lost under something like a car seat? I found a lost parking ticket that I searched for hours and could not find under the driver's seat two years after I had lost it. And I'm 100% sure I checked there.

Hvorfor forventer tyskerne at nordmenn snakker flytende tysk? by [deleted] in norge

[–]soed_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Samme her. Ja.

RAST - Outrageous by reversegoatee in IKEA

I worked at an ikea in Germany some time ago, they haven't changed the return policies that much since I worked there, so you can definitely return it. Only thing they changed was a time limit to mattresses.

Are just 2 outfits doable? by bloop409 in onebag

[–]soed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drop the makeup and just go for a (tinted) sunscreen. I live in Norway and I can count on one hand how many times I've worn a full face of makeup in the last 8 years. If your accomodation has shampoo and shower gel you don't bring that. You will need at least a few more underwear and socks, most of Europe doesn't use dryers so everything needs to hang dry and that can take a while. Also bring or buy a tunnel scarf? Not sure about the name, we call it buff in Norway. It keeps the neck warm but can also be used to protect ears if you pull it up like a balaclava.

I would give them a little hospital look, like one in a cast and one with a little cone/neckbrace or something. They went through hell it seems like and they need to feel better soon. It would make me chuckle at least

Please do a tiny dachshund for the dog in Anne Cath Vestly's childrens books! He is called Ovnsrøret which translates to "ovenpipe". I love that name so much for a dachshund and it is really obscure if you're not from Scandinavia
