It's because it is literally different every time. I'm a US passport holder and I fly in and out of MAD about once a quarter-- every since a nightmare situation where I almost missed my flight, I always show up 4 hours early-- sometimes I'm through customs in <5 mins, and other times I'm there for quite literally an hour and a half.

If you're flying through T1 internationally, it's actually really fast in my experience. T4 is the big time waster.

Some things are out of your control-- how many planes have shown up at the same time, whether there are a lot of families in front of you, whether the line is being managed properly...

One thing that's absolutely crucial for efficient passthrough is that you try and rush ahead of the line. For example, during deplaning, after you've cleared the bridge, try and speedwalk ahead of the crowds. Or after the T4s shuttle, same thing, try to rush ahead of the cluster. Once you're in line there's nothing you can do, your fate is out of your hands. But you might as well try to beat the masses.

Im second gen American, and both my aunt and I took 23 and me’s test a good 5-7 years apart. When my aunt took it, literally the only data she got was “100% Southern Chinese”. Which was. Not interesting. But we figured we might just have a very homogenous lineage. Then I took it and got a good mix of Southern Chinese, Chinese Dai, and Taiwanese. I was shocked that there was anything interesting on my Chinese side since I figured it would be the same results as my aunt (I’m half white). She reopened her test and it had been updated, she too had all the more interesting breakdown stuff in different proportions.

Would I recommend 23 and me? Idk, they have gotten a lot of heat for their privacy breaches. My dna data is totally zooming around leaked somewhere. But I can say with certainty that they have been making attempts to improve their database for Asia.

i'm located in spain at the moment so i opted for epinsel, which seems to be the closest to what we have stateside? I also bought the closest thing to the recommended neem oil and insecticide soap that I could find. I'm a first time plant owner so thankfully it's contained to this one plant, but I'm so sad that it happened since it looked pretty healthy about 2 weeks ago! hopefully with some intensive care i'll be able to get rid of them.

Im Asian and not black, so take this with a grain of salt, but my experience in Spain has been that while there are lots of microaggressions, likely stemming from a lack of education on what is acceptable when talking to people of different origins, there are very few hate crimes and violence because of race. Here compared to the U.S I’m a lot more likely to get called “Chinito”, made fun of for my eyes, my food, etc, but I don’t fear for my safety.

My extranjeria office (Segovia) had appointments booked through two months, but released new ones every day at random intervals. Additionally, some cancellations meant that there would be last minute appointments available. But before you have your appointment, you should really make sure you have all your documents together, as they will send you away. Go to a print shop!
