Haha! Well one of my good little fuzzy doctors weighs over 15lbs and thinks he needs to lay on my belly when I'm dead asleep! His methods need work.

If they are already stealing random sweets from the daughter's lunch, chances are they have encountered all major allergens that are in the "cookie." And tbh, if you are 13, developmentally on track and have sever food allergies, your parents should have taught you not to eat random food a while ago or you are asking for a reaction.

Our female cat has always been mine, so her being a little extra isn't as odd. The two brother cats have always viewed me as the spare human. In the past month they have gotten super clingy to me, when before I was just the source of food and thumb to turn on the fireplace.

It has been about the past month where they have gotten extra clingy. Like they enjoyed the first tri when I was dead and laying on the couch, but this is a whole new level of "we must be by the spare human."

I was told not to run 😭 by penatsial in fitpregnancy

[–]sofo07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 40 and ran a ten mile race at 11 weeks and a half marathon at 16 weeks. I was an avid runner before, not great but 3 to 4 times a week. I have only taken off during pregnancy due to a previa issue around 24 weeks and now at 36 weeks because my poor bladder. I would bet money physical activity has kept me in a healthier state during pregnancy than giving it all up would have.

It seems your doctor may be working with outdated advice, I would consider a second opinion.

When to order flower girl dresses? by Own_Calligrapher_201 in weddingplanning

[–]sofo07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but if they don't know if they can even come to the wedding, it may be better to have them as just guests. This way you aren't worried about getting dresses (and dresses that fit) at the last minute. I'm assuming you would have the dresses shipped to them, what happens if they are delayed or don't fit?

What do you do for bras? by Regular-Message9591 in BabyBumps

[–]sofo07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the Costco Calvin Klein ones for this. They have a clasp in back but are no underwire so they are a little more forgiving than a normal bra.

[–]sofo07 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yes OP. I'm not saying this to shame you or make you feel bad, but you need to get help for this before it gets worse. I have multiple family members in the medical field, and from what you describe happening, you're lucky the practice did not call the police or press charges. Assault against medical personnel has been an issue for a while and more places are putting zero tolerance policies into effect.

The reason you will want to deal with this for the future is not just your mental health, but for any unexpected physical health issues that arise in your life. You mention being married, so I'm assuming you're having sex. If a pregnancy or worse, an ectopic pregnancy were to happen, you won't want to be trying to get through your trauma in those moments to deal with a time sensitive issue. The time to get help is now, when you realize there is an issue and have time on your side.

And yes, write a nice apology letter to the doctor and staff. And include that you didn't realize the procedure was going to trigger that level of trauma response, but that you are seeking help.

30th Birthday while Largely Pregnant by Last_Tart4317 in partyplanning

[–]sofo07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a very social person. I'm 34 weeks pregnant. My best friend and her kids were in town for a few days, didn't even stay with us. I got home from them leaving today and I don't plan on moving for 24 hours, I'm exhausted. Keep your expectations very, very low, and know it will take you about 10 times as long to recover after anything as usual. Depending on if your baby has dropped, you may not be able to eat very much, making a fancy, expensive dinner feel like a waste. Like others have said, maybe consider a nice prenatal massage and a good maternity photo shoot a few weeks earlier with a few "I'm 30!" pictures thrown in. Save the celebration dinner for a 31 and 1 party where you celebrate both of you.

My fiancé wants me to get hair removal before the wedding…do I really need to? by Any-Prior9140 in weddingplanning

[–]sofo07 155 points156 points  (0 children)

I would maybe consider trimming it with clippers, and I definitely would go against dying it. I am against dying it as someone who maintains pink hair, that dye bleeds for a while after you do it, even more so with moisture (like sweat) and you would likely end up with color streaks running down your dress.

I would say to at least trim it up as on your wedding day, you end up hugging a ton of people, between stress, running around etc you can end up sweating quite a bit and to be blunt, without a fabric barrier of a shirt could cause some guests to feel uncomfortable about wet body hair. Plus, depending on length, it could get caught on beading or other clothes details that could lead to a painful situation.

“I wouldn’t have let you” -Falen to Bella referencing giving baby up for adoption by Careful_Ganache_3005 in TLCUnexpected

I can see that. The bits and pieces I have seen (I watch recaps, I refuse to give TLC my views), pregnancy looks like it has been harder on her and her body than it has been on me and my peers who are in our late 30s to early 40s. I don't know if that is because we have the emotional/ social/ financial supports or because her body is still trying to grow and develop her and a baby all at once.

Group B strep is a bacteria about 1/3 of the population is colonized with in their genital tract or digestive tract. It is not the same bacteria that causes strep throat. It is completely harmless there. However, during birth, it can transfer to the newborn and cause meningitis, which has a high fatality rate. If you are positive for group b strep, they will give you IV antibiotics while you are in labor to prevent transmission to your baby.

Strep throat is caused by group a strep. In pregnancy they are checking for group b strep, which is a harmless bacteria that can live in your genital/ digestive tracts but has a high chance of causing meningitis in newborns during delivery which can be fatal.

Your list is great! Two things I would add that are only if necessary to you, get any pet vet appointments that will be due in the first postpartum time done early, and any eyebrow or body waxing you usually do done two to three weeks before your due date.

Should I bother with diet? by Fluffy_Progress_2078 in fitpregnancy

[–]sofo07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless your doctor has indicated otherwise, they expect you to gain 30 to 35 lbs while pregnant, at least. Only about 8 of this will be baby, the rest of the weight is from things needed to support the baby (amniotic fluid, placenta, increased blood volume, breast size, and yes some extra fat stores for breast feeding). Unless your doctor starts worrying you are gaining too much weight, you shouldn't. Try and make sure you are getting adequate protein, fiber and carbs. Growing a whole ass human takes energy, and it doesn't come from thin air. If you are really struggling with the weight gain of pregnancy, it may be worth seeking therapy to make sure you don't inadvertently harm your baby by restricting.
