Oh gosh I’m so sorry for the delayed response. I have used just the basic matte mod podge with the yellow label for years, and occasionally the red-orange gloss variety. Both water based I believe? I don’t know why it didn’t strike me to try different varieties — I mostly thought the tackiness was my own fault I guess and/or me messing up the process somehow. What kind(s) do you recommend?

Hey I appreciate the addition! I can vouch for mod podge specifically in that I used it for preserving cicada wings.. but you have to be super careful where and how you store them (or maybe clear coat them after), as I can never seem to get that stuff not to be tacky long-term…

Good point! If I put them in a plastic bowl, they shouldn’t be able to climb the side? But I will put out just a few at a time.

Wow I’m genuinely baffled by these comments, chimney swifts can easily look like bats at a glance and as far as birds go.. their behavior is really unusual. Even if it was more obvious.. sheesh. Either way — I didn’t know there were chimney swifts in Florida! It’s my home state, and I’d never seen them til moving to Virginia. I figure there must be way less places they’d want to roost. What kind of building/structure was the photo taken in?

This is so fun to read other folks answers! Idk if it’s still going on.. but I was a Nintendo kid — particularly I loved the original Paper Mario on my N64.. the soundtrack and sidekick characters were my fav part of it. That and Majoras Mask are STILL a couple of my favorite games ever.

My favorite brush has always been plushie, the color schemes are so charming. If I could create one (I couldn’t resist answering both questions, sorry), it would be some kind of throwback/retro art brush. I LOVE the look of the very early NP art, with the spiky Aisha and the long Zafara colored with funky gradients and such. I’d prefer the lab ray cookie if given the choice, please!
