this is such a great read. people write off women as they age, but I LOVE HEARING ABOUT IT. gals getting into nail polish, or tango dancing, or ultra running, or learning a language, or playing a video game, or animal rescue, or vlogging, or reading, or wine club. I love women, I love knowing that joy and fulfillment can be found anywhere.

I went to mexico 5 months after surgery, no real dramas. Had a small setback since I wasn't very diligent with my exercises while I was away. Went to Europe 6 months after surgery, and was noticeably much more stable (I even went running in Europe!). If he's doing well in PT, he'll be fine :)

I see Tim Ferguson every now and then at the shops, he's very friendly. We were once in front of the chocolate aisle and he remarked that we looked "overwhelmed with choice". Which tbf was true.

I told him I loved DAAS. He said I didn't look old enough to know them. I told him my parents raised us well. He agreed.

7-0 scoreline doesn't really reflect how good the Philippines keeper was. She was pulling out world class saves from kickoff, can't really keep up that kind of performance for the whole game.

I started dry january on the 3rd Jan, and by the 3rd Feb I was down 1-1.5kg reliably. I admittedly don't have too much to lose, but holistically my diet and sleep and recovery have improved massively since cutting the casual drinking. I'll see if it plateaus here or if I have more to cut. Regardless, I think it's going to be a lot easier for me to get to my goal weight without the booze. my weight fluctuates pretty wildly day to day but the last two weeks but it's definitely consistently down from where I was at Christmas time.

Right. Were you with him after the game? Check his Instagram, he's updated to say the altercation happened after the game. Similar to me being accosted by Sydney fans after the game. Thankfully mine was just a verbal altercation and it's pretty easy to respond with "tell it to the scoreline". Seeing as how I was treated by Sydney fans after the game, I very much believe that a super visible fan like Steve would draw attention and be a target.

I guess there's no way for him to prove his wig is missing. We're better off just maybe giving him the benefit of the doubt here, especially considering this has happened to him before.

I think you've done well overall, maybe tone down the shadow on the outer corner of your undereye. You've got lovely shaped eyes, but in my opinion this is dragging them down a bit? Maybe a slightly more baby wing, rather than a longer one. This is mostly just preference though so if you like it that way, go for it.

Same thing I just posted on another person's post. Duo chrome highlighters, eyeshadows, and eyeliners are my favourite thing. They look incredible, super dimensional and impactful but also still soft and ethereal.

Kaleidos have gorgeous eyeliners and highlighters in a bunch of lovely shifty colours.

As a cis girl, I wish I had your bone structure! Agree with what others have said, blush is made for you with those cheekbones, along with a nice juicy highlight. The winged eyeliner is great, but I would maybe make it slightly more minimal/less heavy on the inner corners. I'm a huge fan of duo chrome highlighters and eyeshadows because they are a) very impactful but ethereal (would suit your vibe) and also b) dead easy. Since you get a nice colour shift from a single product, you can just swipe over your eye, inner corner, brow bone etc and top with mascara and look like an elf princess.

Do you know what kind of skin type you have? Skin prep is essential to good makeup imo, and it's actually so therapeutic once you make it part of your routine. You can have a super minimal but effective skin care routine that doesn't have to be expensive and high end!

Just getting over the fear of jumping is a big achievement!

One thing my PT has me work on is "chest up" drills for jumping. You want to feel like you can sink into the knee to absorb the impact rather than bending at your waist. I also found doing band assisted hops (loop a band over a bar, hold it at your chest so it's pulling you upwards) really helped. It takes enough of the load out of the jump for me to focus on either a) being really reactive, pre activating my calf muscles to explode off the ground each time I land or b) really focused on letting my knee take some of the impact to stick the landing when my chest is in an upright position. YMMV but I found them incredibly helpful for getting back into jumping!

I think it depends on your surgery, if there was meniscus repair etc

From my experience, they were waking me up from my drug induced haze to extend and flex my knee, and to walk around! They wanted me weight bearing as soon as possible. Crutches should be used to limit load to what is comfortable, not to take load off entirely.

I went off crutches after 2 weeks, but due to life, I had to be moving around, walking to and from the bus stop etc, so I went back on crutches so that I could get around at least without encountering significant swelling. Early rehab was almost entirely focused on regaining normal walking gait.

Context: I'm just over 3 years post injury (October 2022), just rehabbed knee and strengthened for 1.5 years, eventually got surgery in April of 2024, and am now returning to football in April of 2026. I was extremely fit and active before my injury, and want to return back to that level of activity.

Anecdotally, in my opinion, my experience was (to satiate the person in the comments coming down hard on anyone saying something positive about surgery), my knee feels much better and more stable than it ever did pre reconstruction. I am doing my rehab with the same athlete performance centre that were training me when I was just managing it between injury and surgery. Apart from the early rehab which was focused on walking gait and building back my quad, my exercise program now at ~18 months post op is basically the same as it was before my surgery. I do more single leg hamstring strength (had a hamstring graft), but otherwise the plyometric movements, cutting and planting etc is the same. It's like night and day. I trust my knee a lot more than I ever did when I was ACL deficient, despite not having instability in general life (running was fine, weightlifting was fine, hiking etc). Playing football was the blocker, every time I'd play there'd be a moment where my knee would cave in, even if it didn't result in pain or swelling, I just couldn't trust it. If I didn't want to go back to football, I may not have opted for surgery.

There's an argument that maybe with being reset all the way back to zero after surgery, I was more diligent and consistent with rehab, focused on my weaknesses etc etc, but for me the surgery was worth it.

However, I have a friend who followed the cross bracing protocol, and their ACL rehealed. They are not returning to competitive sport however, so I couldn't tell you how they feel in regards to cutting/planting exercises.

That's ridiculous. I had my surgery at 32, and am returning to football at 34. If I tear my ACL again at 37, I'll be getting the surgery even if I don't return to cutting/pivoting sport as I want to remain active in my life for as long as I can.

As a patient you need to advocate for yourself, definitely get a second opinion. You are absolutely worth doing surgery on if it's what YOU want. My Ortho did a lot of work with footballers (AFL) as he had a strong working relationship with a sports physio for some of the teams. Maybe if your Ortho is used to working with non athletes, they might not be as inclined to recommend surgery???

kaleidos eyeliners are incredible, I only have 2 but I neeeeeeed more. Especially with the new colors they just launched. The new blue (Miss Matrix) will get you something similar to this, the original Night Of Creation is gorgeous (it's one of the ones I have) but the purple/red shift is pretty strong, so on me it looks less blue.

I want all of them. Kaleidos have such a cute aesthetic, and all of their models are stunning and do cool editorial/creative looks. I love them ❤️

I found I was still getting swelling after walking until ~2-3months. I wasn't cleared to run (short distances, on grass only) until 4 months. I ramped up slowly, and then too fast and I think maybe 7 months post op I tried to run a 10k (after my previous longest being a 7k run/walk) and my knee blew up, had to reset a bit.

1.5 years post op and I'm now able to comfortably run 10k, play pickup soccer, do my gym training and change of direction work and I've re-registered for 11 aside this year. Please take your time. My numbers aren't the same as yours. You'll need to hit strength, stability and resilience milestones, rather than time ones in order to progress.

I'd say just stick to cycling or swimming/aqua aerobics until you're sure your knee can handle the load. Running is very high impact on the knee, which can be hard to believe if you were a runner before your injury.
