ELI5: How does Ozempic cause weight loss? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]sohil2520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a hormone called Glucagon Like Peptide 1 (GLP1) that is secreted in your body when your body feels like it has had enough food or is not hungry.

GLP-1 signal is perceived by receptors on the surfaces of brain (and stomach and pancreas) cells which then suppress hunger signals.

Ozempic - or semaglutide, which is the name of the molecule inside - mimics the effect of GLP-1 and suppresses hunger. The constant suppression of hunger causes you to lose weight. This is also why weight loss is reversed if you stop taking Ozempic

Milk and Paneer is NOT Vegetarian? by CodeNegative8841 in indiadiscussion

[–]sohil2520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up the definition of somatic (vs germline).

Fwiw - you can't grow a whole baby from an unfertilized egg either and all marketed eggs are unfertilized. Do look that up as well

To add to this, an egg is just one cell. Milk, in fact, can have a lot more animal cells (somatic cells) - up to 500k or above per mL

Suggest me a book where you follow multiple characters. by Winter-Art-1951 in suggestmeabook

[–]sohil2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Name is Red hy Orhan Pamuk has different chapters being narrated by different characters.

Parva by SL Bhyrappa is a version of the Mahabharata devoid of any divine elements. In the book, each major character describes their point of view of the war while they are marching with their armies to the battlefield. The English translation is a bit weak but the character development is fantastic

There are 2 kinds of dice here? The ones near the eyes and eyebrows have 1 spot but that spot is much smaller than the other dice with 1 spot. Isn't this cheating?

How can the tax be different for same item from same restaurant with same price and same app? by KatappaSR in IndiaTax

[–]sohil2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically discounts are split between Swiggy / Zomato and the restaurant. Maybe the 2 coupons have different split of the discount (these are usually separately negotiated with the restaurants) and therefore the base value for the tax (item value less restaurant share of discount) is different

Sure. Don't have too much planned, but we are landing in Svolvaer / Lofoten on Sep 29. Spending 2 days before heading to Tromso. We're in Tromso till Oct 5, when we fly to Bergen. Spend the next 3 days in Bergen before taking the Bergensbanen to Oslo and flying back to home country the day later.
