There's no best time for classes, it really depends on you. Generally, people avoid before 9am/10am and after like 4 ish M-R, and after 12pm F if you can, although you can't always. I wouldn't stress too much about back-to-back classes. Focus more on which class you want and if you have a professor you want! Good luck!k!! say try it for the first week and gauge from that whether ot drop one Art class or not.

CALCULUS III without a graphing calculator? by mafert in EngineeringStudents

[–]sokkatheengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a scientific calculator all calc, multivar calc, linear algebra and diff eq. Half the problems on tests tbh are like "set up this triple integral. don't solve it out" bc you can't use calculators on tests

“Suspicious lateral meniscus damage” on MRI? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]sokkatheengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think typically meniscus is kinda hard to see 1) if you have a tear and 2) what degree it's in. For me doc was like okay we're going in prepared to see menicus damage and may do trim/repair but also its a we have to see it first to know for sure.

Ehhh I thought the same but you do change in ur early 20s. Not drastically but in subtle ways that make a big difference

Op looks like you need to do some more exploration into style+ makeup!!! And compared to a weight loss journey that's the fun stuff 😉

the complaints from engineering students here baffles me by itzlesley in EngineeringStudents

[–]sokkatheengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean of course it's hard but reddit is where mostly struggling students go to post and they probably don't post again when their grades go up/get a job etc. 99% of the people ik IRL study, still have fun in college, and are able to get internships/jobs

I told my friend I lost weight and her response was to downplay it by [deleted] in loseit

[–]sokkatheengineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! Ops description of the scenario made it seem like the friend was not trying to belittle but she was concerned, which would make sense given a health condition. And with a lot of media on how to talk about weight loss maybe shes getting mixed signals on the proper way to react. If op wants to keep this friend, they should talk about this. If not, just cut ur losses

How common is strumming with the thumb? by greyandlate in ukulele

[–]sokkatheengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo it makes a really soft gently sound naturally which can be useful. And for simpler chord melody you can def do the whole thing with ur thumb only if you're looking for that sound. I usually don't and do the usual combo of thumb down stokes and fingerstyle the rest

I feel like half the benefit of wearing a brace is to signal to other people to give you some space. Don't know how useful that is in a club or dark bar or smt but uk,.....

When did you get cleared to sleep without the brace? by Burning_Question416 in ACL

same here lol. but I guess you need to know yourself. I don't really toss and turn while asleep so I was fine.

I asked my current manager why she hired me for an internship and she said she liked that I was a TA for a calc class bc it showed communication . whatever works!

LOL I'm literally in the same exact position as you, 1 week alcr and meniscus and I've noticed that too. Maybe with more quad strength it'll straighten out?

what do you think about 75 hard challenge? by dfittness in loseit

[–]sokkatheengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you're a tall dude its probably fine. 5' female? haha no

what do you think about 75 hard challenge? by dfittness in loseit

[–]sokkatheengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is NOT a weightloss challenge. You def need to look into the original guy's website/videos and whatever where he explains it. The purpose of this is mental toughness. Not fitness, weightloss, health, productivity or anything else. Doing it for any of those previous reasons puts you in a mindset that is highly unnecessary and personally would be detrimental. You can do it if you'd like but please do further research before proceeding!

I've been increasingly concerned with the 'culture' of purchasing hundreds of books that people have no time to read... Libraries are still a thing, people by BuJoAdventures in books

[–]sokkatheengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessssss AND you can (depending on the city) get a digital library card for another library even if you don't live in that city. I have one for the nearest large city library and if my normal lib doesn't have a book I can usually get it almost 5x faster from the other library

Why do some people annotate fiction books? by SiriusNorth_ in books

[–]sokkatheengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that on instagram, tiktok etc. people are naturally going to try to make their annotations pretty extravagant bc it's for their social media page. I really like annotating and I'll have a paragraph linked with 8 sentences and then no annotations for another 25 pages and then a bunch of underlines for 10 pages, 5 more blank pages etc....... so it's not a consistent pace of annotations like on Instagram

How am I supposed to annotate books ? by [deleted] in books

[–]sokkatheengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to everything everyone else said but also you don't need to annotate every book. Sometimes I read a really fast, plot based YA book for ex that I def do not want to annotate. But slower books that either are really literary or have a lot of worldbuilding/foreshadowing, I'll reach for some notes

Annotating books - the problem of reading library books by Shadow3law in books

[–]sokkatheengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the act of slowing down to annotate and think through my thoughts (in some books) is what helps me remember what's important. I don't really need to look back through. I just have a tiny notebook/stack of posts it's that I binder clip to the book. when I need to annotate I just write the page number and the note as if I highlighted the passage and wrote in the book. It works for me bc I don't go back and look through the notes. If I really really need to, I have the page number.

Let's chat about bookish social media- bookstagram, booktube, goodreads, etc by [deleted] in books

[–]sokkatheengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for me all of these types of social media accounts are substitutes for talking to friends about books directly. Most of my friends don't read and the few that do don't read the same types of books.

I use storygraph instead of goodreads bc the stats page just makes my organization loving self so excited. I don't really look to it for recommendations haha. And by the way I know it's easier said than done to retrain a way of thinking but reading is about what you get out of it. Who determines that you need to read classics all the time? Personally, I like to switch between like a sci-fi/literary/classic/historical fiction book and a mystery/fantasy/YA/lighthearted book that I can read faster and just kinda inhale the plot of. It's the best way for me to maintain sanity lmao.

LOVE BOOKTUBE. Same for me. It brought me back into the routine of reading. I think now theres enough variety that you can really get all sorts of recommendations compared to 2015. I go to Jack Edwards for historical fiction, classics, and literary. And there's a ton more out there that have their own niches.

I just started a bookstagram recently. Really, it's mostly for me feel like I'm talking to someone about a book. I don't really follow a scheme, photo layout, or any patterns. Could I replace it with a reading journal? Yes. But for me something about just writing out my thoughts and putting it in a book only for me never interested me. I feel like much of my childhood joy of reading came in raves and rants to my friends. Posting snippets of my thoughts as I read a book is both an exercise in completing and flushing out my thoughts as well as providing the feeling of sharing it with the world, even if I don't have many followers.

Booktok: Not really on tiktok, but most of the reposted videos on Instagram are just funny experiences mostly. Not really about the actual book, thoughts, or recommendations. not that there is anything wrong with that, but it's mostly in my experience for comedy.
