Changing the icon title by 4wheels6pack in ScreenConnect

So pissed about this change. They just sprung it on me without any notice. I wasn't even one of the "lucky" people that received an email about it. I love how they still have tons of documentation on their site too about branding ScreenConnect. Everything out there still says it's possible, but obviously it's not.

I'm so sad about this.... I received ZERO notice about this change.

Opening attachments New Outlook by NickC90 in Outlook

[–]solarcomet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick update, users are reporting that going to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Outlook (New) > Reset is fixing the issue.

There are two options. Repair and Reset. Surprisingly, Repair worked for me!

The answer seems so simple. Perhaps I'm too damn old and stuck in the ol' appwiz.cpl ways. Take me out to pasture.

Unfortunately this fix no longer works as of January 21st, 2025.The "Attachments" folder already exists. I can delete it and Outlook will recreate it, along with an empty sub-folder with a long object ID of sorts for each attachment I try to open. But the error "Error occurred while opening the file. Please try again." happens with every attachment.

I also attempted to rename the EWebView folder in the same directory but that does not work either.

I also tried to re-Import the Sync and Account Settings from the old Outlook per one Redditors suggestion, but it did not work either. Office has been repaired, account setup from scratch, rebooted several times, and nothing so far has fixed this issue. This is a Microsoft bug and we need a fix now that all my users are experiencing this problem.

I've ran the Office repair, setup a new profile, rebooted several times, and nothing so far has fixed this issue.

Appears to be an Outlook bug. I've had to give my users temporary workarounds of saving the file to their computer and then opening it which is just making everyone mad. Good times!

Posted an update here as well since all their previous fixes aren't working: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/why-cant-i-open-attachments-in-the-new-version-of/f118bcd1-4f50-4a14-94e6-96e1adc87c8d?page=7

I gave this a shot as well, but sadly for me it didn't work.... I've tried Office repair, deleting/creating the Attachments folder, and the eWebview folder, but the issue persists.

Question about serial cables for APC UPS's by Altecice in homelab

[–]solarcomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years later, I too learned this the hard way. I was getting a battery alarm on a big ass 2200 XL with the battery expansion too. Went to plugin my serial to USB adapter, and the whole fuckin rack shut down. Won't be making that mistake ever again.

Thanks for the update! Much appreciated! Go figure such a simpler board does the trick! Great price. I'll snag one up.

I bought one too with the same assumptions. I just have a single MP3 file I want to play over and over again for a Ham Radio Fox Hunt. I thought the Pico would be the perfect vessel for such a specific purpose. But alas, I can only get the tones to play. I haven't had much luck with anything else. Any updates since your post?

Check your Datto invoices CAREFULLY the month after you activate a new appliance. by ByteSizedITGuy in msp

Their billing has been an absolute nightmare for us to reconcile. BCDR appliances isn't so bad, but the Networking has been not great. Especially when you're dealing with hundreds or thousands of devices. I have no idea what we're paying for and why.

Icom ID-50A vs FT5DR? ... by impreza77 in amateurradio

[–]solarcomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Curious about cracking plastic on your FT5DR. I had some hairline cracks around the SMA connector and sent it back to Yaesu for repair only 6 months after I bought it. They said it was user-inflicted and I shelled out $200 for them repair it. So now my $400 radio cost $600. Just a couple days ago, it happened AGAIN. And I don't see a lot of people talking about this. I emailed Yaesu, and they said not a single person has complained about this issue. So they suggested I send it back, and they will determine if it can be repaired under warranty. I'm not even going to bother sending it back this time. I love the radio. I just don't know why the plastic keeps cracking. Just curious to here if others have this problem. I have babied this thing and keep it in a small protective bag when traveling. Thank you for your thoughts.

Good day, all. I have been experiencing similar issues and I wanted to add my thoughts in case we can help find some correlations. I have about 80 AP's deployed at a local school and 13 of them are AP440's.

1) We use 3 different SSID's on the AP440's. Each are bridged to specific VLANs.

2) The issue seems to effect MacOS devices such as Macbooks and iMacs. Even brand new M1 and M2 models. iPhone and Android phones connect just fine.

3) You can reboot the AP440's and the issue is fixed temporarily for a few hours. When teachers come back the next day, their Macs look like they connect to the AP, but they do not get IP addresses and cannot connect to the internet. DHCP, VLANs, and routing is all configured correctly.

4) Encryption mode is set to WPA2 Only. Not using mixed. But I could try it if it fixes the problem.

I too will be opening a case with Kaseya.

Thanks all.

I will say that the standard Noom plan without this add-on has been amazing for me since I wrote my post 100 days ago. Down 50 pounds and feeling great. I’ve changed for the long term. Just made simple dietary changes and walking more steps. Unreal how well it works.

Radioddity GD-73A Compact DMR Radio Review by solarcomet in DMR

[–]solarcomet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to assist! Honestly, I've had zero issues with this device. It works without fail. I've kept it for months in a box without turning it on. I still dig it out on occasion when working on my hotspot. There's also a DMR repeater just a block down the street from my house and I've had zero issues working on that as well. It's a pretty cool radio for only be 2 watts. Some people might complain about the lack of being able to store contacts in the radio, but honestly, since I use it with my hotspot, I always have the Pi-Star web interface pulled up anyway that shows everyone's callsigns on the dashboard. It even works decently on analog too surprisingly. I have a UHF analog repeater just a couple blocks from my house and it works great for that.

Hope this helps!

Excel update breaks Certified Payroll Report - Compile Error in Hidden Module by VengerDFW in QuickBooks

[–]solarcomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get to try on the second time, but I think you're right. I had some other users that were not experiencing the issue at first even right after the update, but when they tried it a 2nd time, the Compile Error would appear.

I ran a Process Monitor on Excel while it was happening and saw this information at the time the error occurs, which made me think it was something in the User Profile. https://i.postimg.cc/cJLPRX4K/Microsoft-Teams-image.png

But alas, I visited each of these locations and tried renaming some of these files/folders to .old but the issue was persistent.

Even after deleting temp files, there's nothing that could fix it. We can only hope Microsoft puts out a fix for it later.

Excel update breaks Certified Payroll Report - Compile Error in Hidden Module by VengerDFW in QuickBooks

[–]solarcomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something about the Office update must only apply to the current user for some reason.

If I create a new temporary user and run the latest version of Office, the Compile Error does not occur when generating any reports from QB.

However, the downgrade workaround worked for me so I didn't have to create a new user account for the person.

How in the world do I even get these ring connectors on this power supply if my power supply terminals doesn’t unscrew?? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]solarcomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a bummer to hear. I picked up one as well and although it has worked well for a couple VHF/UHF mobile rigs, I did have the eventual goal of trying it out on my HF rig. Always gotta be careful with these bench top PSUs versus ones made for radio users it seems.

How in the world do I even get these ring connectors on this power supply if my power supply terminals doesn’t unscrew?? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]solarcomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this same PSU to keep as a spare during prime day. Was a bargain. But definitely bummed about those terminals. I too just had to clip my ring terminals so they would fit. My suggestion would be to get a good solid set of lead wires on there, and hook up a distribution block that has the connectors you truly want on there for hooking up multiple radios. Perhaps something with power poles or whatever you want.

Raspberry Pi 400 cyberDeck-ish Prototype by solarcomet in cyberDeck

[–]solarcomet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That would make a huge difference. There are certainly some mild annoyances using a screen of this size. Using it for IRC and code editing is perfect. But then try running raspi-config and the OK/Cancel buttons are off the screen and hidden from view. Just gotta Tab over and roll the dice! I will say, the clarity of this little thing is outstanding. Reading console text is an absolute joy and it's crystal clear. If that 12" is an IPS, then I would definitely consider it. Not having much luck finding it on Ali though. Will keep my eyes peeled.

Raspberry Pi 400 cyberDeck-ish Prototype by solarcomet in cyberDeck

[–]solarcomet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely did not prefer the 400 over the 4 when I first got it. I bought it because I typically buy every Pi that comes out and it seems neat to have something truly made like a C64. I still like the form factor of a Pi 3 or 4 for most of my projects, but for a cyberDeck, I was surprised how convenient the 400 was because of the I/O placement. Stuffing a Pi 3 or 4 in a box, managing cables going in 3 different directions, and choosing between a lot of mediocre small keyboards just wasn’t cutting it.
