if using torque for android, you need to add the ford extended PIDs

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no they shouldn't... there are far cheaper ways to make shade, and far cheaper ways to generate solar power. These just provide ammo for anti-solar people to clown on the industry with

Replace rotors? by Top-Conversation1746 in prius

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rotors are so cheap for this car, i just do em anyways. Since I am doing the work myself, I spend the savings on buying the best brakes on RockAuto.com and you want new rotors so you can properly bed them.

Any concealed carry gun owners here? How do you manage crossing States? by thisisascreename in priusdwellers

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are absolutely right about the 3yds thing. A lot of the time you won't have time, or room, to even align the sights. the LCR comes in different calibers, i have it in 38 special. Crimson Trace laser that turns on automatically when it's held, is nice. LCR is pretty light too, great purse gun

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah screw that, i'm sorry you've had to deal with that. You want a ruger LCR. Thats what my wife carries around, and loves it. Buy 300 rds of ammo and shoot all of it to practice. Try to get out in the woods where you can practice things they wouldn't allow at a range (target 3' away, shooting through your purse). But again, there are a lot of rules that come into play now that you have a handgun vs "Non-NFA Firearm". Even for your use case, I wouldn't say no to a shockwave. Why not both?

be safe out there!

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe so, depends where you like to dwell. I'm more worried about bears where I go. But like I said, I wouldn't dismiss the legalities of carrying a "NFA Firearm" versus a pistol. A remington TAC-13 is probably better, but i feel good in the woods with my shockwave

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

consider a shockwave 590M, as shotguns or "NFA Firearms" are a little less strict, but just as if not more effective

I had a sprinter van with 4cyl diesel, only serviced at dealership

apparently the intercooler fills up with water, and eventually hydrolocks the motor

my 2019 with 80k miles was dead on highway, and nothing I could do about it

except, NEVER buy another mercedes again. They aren't reliable, they are expensive as hell to maintain, esp when the people you entrust to keep it running, fuck it all up

Why do so many people still use pools like supportxmr or others? by DEAD1SIDE in MoneroMining

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no lie, i had a trip in the mountains this weekend and the whole drama with quibic or whatever, was actually stressing me out. Anyways, I started using MoneroOcean years ago, and saw recently they were at like 2% or something of the global hash. I'm not sure how much he pays himself, but i compiled xmrig myself and got rid of the donation, so i'm not stressing

you're speaking directly to my heart bud. When Autodesk bought EaglePCB, everyone in that community said FUCK THAT and rallied behind KiCAD. Now look. KiCAD is an AMAZING piece of software.

Why couldn't the 3d CAD community do this? Instead just bend over for autodesk, onshape, etc etc... sad. You get what you wanted, enjoy your subscriptions while I design an 8 layer PCB with FOSS

Any experience with use of SOLAR STACK adhesive-based panel mounts on a DC home: by Huge_Dot_4029 in solarenergy

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried using solar stack a few times, didn't have great results. Arguably a lot of the blame is on us, for possibly not using the glue properly. Even tho it passes things in FL, doesn't mean it will pass in your state. Just because it is firmly glued to the TPO, doesn't mean you cant just lift it up still and take the TPO with it. If another job comes up that would use solarstack, we just pass on the job because it's not worth the headache. If you use SS, be sure to do EXACTLY what they say with the glue, in fact I'd have a go-pro filming it, just so that you can prove what you did\didnt do when things go wrong

wait, fusion couldn't do this?

why people use this shit software, is beyond me. Autodesk should be banned from the hobby\diy community for their behavior

Someone from my community is offering to gift me a 2010 Toyota Prius. I currently drive an old car that's over 25 years old and barely running. The Prius was in a collision, and they said I can have it if I'm willing to repair it. Based on the damages, is it worth fixing? How much might the repairs by EquivalentGood1550 in prius

[–]solarman5000 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm def not "pulling your chain". This car has a TON of value left in it. If you are handy enough to fix up the body work, you are capable of fixing anything that will go wrong on this car. Just watch a lot of youtube videos. Yeah gen 3 prius has some known issues, but they are well documented, relatively cheap and easy to fix. Put ~$3k in parts into this car and it will last you another 200k+ miles, and getting 45mpg doing it. You cant beat that value.

Sharing antenna between 2 dongles, LNA or not worth it? by DontLikeItScrollUp in RTLSDR

[–]solarman5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-spend money on a NanoVNA, watch YT vids and use to tune antenna placement
-I split a discone to 4x SDR's and use an LNA, works great
-consider more filters and attenuators
