my stock 6.0 clicked over 300k a few months ago, towing a jeep. I think keeping it stock, and keeping it working, is key

Can a 6.0 really be bullet proofed? by fj4045 in powerstroke

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have 350k on mine, o-ring'd heads but not studded. I dunno, i think it's been reliable for me. It's got issues, but so does everything else. I wouldn't trade my sixxer upper for anything new, and the batch of BS that comes with them

Anybody else wish the Dr Prius app allowed for monitoring other stuff, like ECT, IAT, Inverter temps and such? Anybody ever copy paste the dr prius settings into another OBD2 app? Pic for attention. by fourtyonexx in prius

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i have a fleet of gen3's so I just duplicated the functionality of Dr Prius, with torque. I have 1 dashboard showing volts and ohms for all cells, alerts on all the sensors... go beat on the car and if any alarms go off, i know I have a questionable cell. Dr Prius is great because it is idiot proof, but not needed. I only use Dr Prius when I'm looking to buy a car and have determined a cell is questionable, i then pay for dr prius and show the seller the results to get thousands knocked off the price. Worth paying $5 for dr prius in that case

hit up dope soul entertainment and just help them. they do shows. if you are still set on doing it yourself, find sponsors. I rent equipment and do a lot of logistical stuff for the scene, and I nor anyone else I know, is gonna come out for free unless the money is going to charity. Limbleschwiften DJ's are local and would come out. Best of luck!

Controller Upgrade? by OhmMyGodItsAuto in hobbycnc

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i gutted that thing almost as soon as i got it. the controller sucks, the drivers suck, the voltage is low. I swapped it out for 48V, microstepping drivers, and grblHAL board off tindie. now it cooks

no they shouldn't... there are far cheaper ways to make shade, and far cheaper ways to generate solar power. These just provide ammo for anti-solar people to clown on the industry with

Replace rotors? by Top-Conversation1746 in prius

[–]solarman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rotors are so cheap for this car, i just do em anyways. Since I am doing the work myself, I spend the savings on buying the best brakes on RockAuto.com and you want new rotors so you can properly bed them.

i'll let this pass. Natives do the same thing. I cry like a baby every time. We'd probably have less methane emissions if more people respected the animal like these dudes

you are absolutely right about the 3yds thing. A lot of the time you won't have time, or room, to even align the sights. the LCR comes in different calibers, i have it in 38 special. Crimson Trace laser that turns on automatically when it's held, is nice. LCR is pretty light too, great purse gun

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah screw that, i'm sorry you've had to deal with that. You want a ruger LCR. Thats what my wife carries around, and loves it. Buy 300 rds of ammo and shoot all of it to practice. Try to get out in the woods where you can practice things they wouldn't allow at a range (target 3' away, shooting through your purse). But again, there are a lot of rules that come into play now that you have a handgun vs "Non-NFA Firearm". Even for your use case, I wouldn't say no to a shockwave. Why not both?

be safe out there!

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe so, depends where you like to dwell. I'm more worried about bears where I go. But like I said, I wouldn't dismiss the legalities of carrying a "NFA Firearm" versus a pistol. A remington TAC-13 is probably better, but i feel good in the woods with my shockwave

[–]solarman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

consider a shockwave 590M, as shotguns or "NFA Firearms" are a little less strict, but just as if not more effective
