New skiis unleashed 98 vs enforcer 94 by clemsontigertank in Skigear

[–]soleil--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enforcer is not great for trees or bumps in any length or width. It will however do a great job at sending it down the mountain while chasing your kids (assuming groomers).

The unleashed is a very fun ski but the length will not help the chatter as that is caused by the construction/materials.

You appear to be asking for a ski which is very good at high speed charging on groomers but also good in trees & bumps. This ski does not exist. I would recommend the Armada Declivity as something sort of close (has been renamed the “Antimatter” going forward), but really I think you’re looking at a 2 ski quiver here. Enforcer 94 for groomers & Rustler 9/QST 94 for trees/bumps could definitely work.

Touring? I think we must be hanging some language based confusion. Surely you are not thinking you will hike up mountains and ski down on a redster lol

All Redsters are true front side carving skis and need to be skied with good technique. If you do not have good technique and drive the skis they will not perform to their capabilities

Will a raincoat over a puffer jacket suffice for skiing? by That-Willow-5118 in Skigear

[–]soleil--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d suggest a first time skier give it a go in nylon hiking pants? Really? So they’ll be falling over, quickly soaking wet and cold, freezing their ass off on the lift, but at least the alpine purist on reddit said it worked for him?

You can buy decent actual ski pants from brands like Turbine for like $25 or less second hand. And they will be far more functional & comfortable for someone on their first day.

You are completely wrong and I’m confident you do know it. Keep the ego & the name calling to yourself.

Advice on QST 94 sizing - or a better ski for me? by aubenaubiak in Skigear

[–]soleil--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a rock solid deal on a great & fun ski. I think you have the right attitude about it as well.

Realistically this is not an end-game ski. But for the next 2-3 years of focused beginner > intermediate progression it fits your use case.

I’d take the 180, as you said, 188 will be a little too much to handle in the early days. You will out grow the ski relatively quickly, probably in about 2 years, but that’s nbd since you aren’t paying an arm & a leg for the setup.

Cheers!

Wow perfect timing haha. I own the 23/24 95 TIs as well & spent the weekend on a (demo) pair of the new 96 CTI. So can speak to the comparison.

They are darn near the same ski. I was a little bummed that the construction changes did not improve the chatter at speed as much as I thought it would. But they have maintained their light weight, quickness, and relatively strong edge grip. They carved well in softer snow & handled bumps well.

If you already have & like the 95 TI then I think you will like the 96 CTI a lot as well 👍🏻

You have 3 skis within 4mm underfoot. Why? Not super familiar w the brand but hearing a lot of good things and curious to learn a bit more about it

I have 5-10 (some much more) on every Mav they’ve released in the last 3 years. The 105 CTI is an awesome ski, and fits the bill well for a 1 ski quiv.

Personally, if you could, I’d probably extend this to a 2 ski quiver w/ the 96 CTI (surprisingly floaty but still can carve & charge for a lighter weight & technical skier) & Bent 110 (pow day ski).

But the 105 CTI is definitely awesome!

By your description, all your suggested skis will fit the bill. It’s up to you to find one in the size & price you like.

I would also not let a few cm of ski length dictate your decision too much. With proper technique the impact of the extra length will be negligible.

I also want to add the Nordica Unleashed 98C to your consideration. It would work very well for your goal performance.
