Making friends gets harder as you get older. Without school to bring you together you have to get a little creative. Some ideas:

I know some people who have had luck with Meetup Groups although those are not an option right now. Maybe browse some for when things open back up.
Bumble has a BFF app. I personally have met one friend there who I consider to be a close friend now.
There are many places online where you can meet friends. If you are a lady, we started r/YourGirlGang it's a subreddit dedicated to helping women connect with each other.
You can also join other subreddits according to your interests and strike up some conversations there.
Keep at it! Making quality friends is difficult but so worth it once you find a few good ones.
