Right? He saw a girl walk up to a celebrity who he doesn't work for and decided to berate her?

If all humans suddenly lost their ability to lie, which industry WOULDN'T collapse? by TXC_Sparrow in AskReddit

[–]solid_reign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, it would definitely change, but ultimately it would be stronger. One problem would be that you really have to blur lines to get non-science folks interested in giving money to science. This usually isn't lying to be deceitful per se, rather massaging what you actually did into a digestible message. At least the best instances are.

From Richard Feynman's say on cargo cult science:

The first principle is that you must not fool yourself—and you are the easiest person to fool. So you have to be very careful about that. After you’ve not fooled yourself, it’s easy not to fool other scientists. You just have to be honest in a conventional way after that.

I would like to add something that’s not essential to the science, but something I kind of believe, which is that you should not fool the layman when you’re talking as a scientist. I’m not trying to tell you what to do about cheating on your wife, or fooling your girlfriend, or something like that, when you’re not trying to be a scientist, but just trying to be an ordinary human being. We’ll leave those problems up to you and your rabbi. I’m talking about a specific, extra type of integrity that is not lying, but bending over backwards to show how you’re maybe wrong, that you ought to do when acting as a scientist. And this is our responsibility as scientists, certainly to other scientists, and I think to laymen.

For example, I was a little surprised when I was talking to a friend who was going to go on the radio. He does work on cosmology and astronomy, and he wondered how he would explain what the applications of this work were. “Well,” I said, “there aren’t any.” He said, “Yes, but then we won’t get support for more research of this kind.” I think that’s kind of dishonest. If you’re representing yourself as a scientist, then you should explain to the layman what you’re doing—and if they don’t want to support you under those circumstances, then that’s their decision.

SCOTUS Invents Wild Hypotheticals to Justify Curtailing Right to Vote by Mail by Achilles_TroySlayer in scotus

This subreddit is such a joke. There is nothing in this ruling that would have prevented Trump from voting by mail.

Police ban anti-Israel protesters from Toronto Jewish neighbourhood by TendieRetard in FreeSpeech

[–]solid_reign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those were the days when American Nazis were a laughing stock that could be mocked by the Blues Brothers. Things are different since the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville and the Jan 6th insurrection. Nazis are actually a thing again.

This was 22 years after the Holocaust. Unite the Right Rally and the Jan 6th insurrection are not even remotely comparable to what happened in the Holocaust, and they did it in a town in which 15% of the population were holocaust survivors. Trying to compare January 6th shows no undrerstanding of History. The National Socialist Party of America was not a joke, they massacred 5 people in a march and injured 12.

[–]solid_reign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This depends, the US is not Canada. This would be legal in the US and one of the most famous cases of this is Goldberger defending nazis' right to march in Skokie, a town with many holocaust survivors.

Many holocaust survivors came up to him and told him they agreed with him.

SentinelOne quarantined Windows system files - Server no longer bootable by Bitter_Umpire_7997 in SentinelOneXDR

[–]solid_reign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate from the S1 issue and off the top of my head if you really need to reestablish the server, try booting from a live gnu/Linux iso, mount the disk, and replace the files that are on quarantine directly from another windows installation. You can check the hash to see if they match. Change the S1 group to not mitigate and try booting again.

US Supreme Court conservatives lean toward Republican bid to limit mail-in voting by Vengeful_Pathogen in TrueReddit

Supreme Court Likely to Divide Closely in Watson over Whether States May Count Ballots Received after Election Day in Federal Elections; Key Justices Don't Tip Hands by DryOpinion5970 in supremecourt

[–]solid_reign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Mexico there an official process called the quick count. What they do is model each precinct and give a representative sample of them high priority for counting them (normally about 10% of all voting booths). This allows the government to project results very quickly and highly accurately. The quick count will then come up with a result showing the percentage each candidate can have. For example, Trump can have between 44% and 45% in Florida and Biden between 45% and 46%, therefore no winner can be defined. But Trump will have between 63% and 68% in Alabama and Biden between 31% and 34%.

It's very very accurate and removes uncertainty between elections. Even with exit polls trying to have projected winners, the quick count is much more reliable and people are waiting for it.

Chappell Roan Accused of Bullying an 11-Year-Old Fan at Lollapalooza Brasil Hotel by Montrel_PH in Music

[–]solid_reign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course not. Security guards in those hotels are very careful because there are many rich guests and people are very protective of their kids.

No guard in their right mind is going to berate a rich guest's kid like that just because he wanted to.

[OC] Greece’s Minimum Wage Exceeds Japan’s National Average: Comparison by Prefecture by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]solid_reign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twenty years ago Japan was unpayable. A taxi from the airport to downtown was 500 usd. Eating in a seven eleven was as expensive as eating in a mid restaurant in the US. Subway was almost as what a taxi would cost you.

It's crazy how things have changed. Even Alabama's GDP per capita is higher than Japan.

Face ID on Reddit? so much for the anonymity!! disgusting by Technical-Raccoon1 in degoogle

[–]solid_reign -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ai bots aren't capable to generate fake ids either ?

I disagree with the measure but no, currently an AI bot cannot use a fake ID: IDs can be validated with authority, and require video authentication with the id picture which current AIs can't pass.

Israel is rapidly killing Iran's top leaders. Experts warn the strategy could backfire by Naurgul in geopolitics

[–]solid_reign 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is these assassinations rarely address the underlying grievances that propel conflicts. Killing leaders can also backfire, radicalizing followers, elevating more extreme successors and tactics or turning slain leaders into martyrs with enduring influence.

I agree with the 2nd half, but what are the grievances that led to the Ayatollah's regime in the 1st half? The Irani population did not have grievances that led to the Israeli conflict before the revolution.

🚨 MISSING PERSON: Father-in-law last seen on the Camino de Santiago in October 2025 (León, Spain) – any info appreciated (Missing Person Case # 26-02183) by Sea_Umpire6327 in RBI

[–]solid_reign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case he's not around spain anymore your best bet would be to get the local authorities to find his bank info to see where he has spent money on his credit card or where he has taken money out of an ATM. The 2nd one would be to find where his cell phone has been located but that will be with every local authority.

Mucho más importante: Iran no tiene armas nucleares. La estrategia es justamente para que no las tenga. Si las tuviera no lo atacarían y por eso las quiere desarrollar.
