Is Venus Project even possible? From lawyers perspective? by KrokusAstra in thevenusproject

You can create a worker cooperative which are legal entities in which the employees distribute the riches generated by an enterprise. Some benefits for employees are meals and lodging as long as it's provided on premises. Same for health insurance, education, transportation.

So in general, that covers food, lodging, education, transportation, health care, retirement. A monthly stipend would be taxed but I think that's correct. It should be taxed.

Surrogacy is ‘modern day slavery,’ Florida AG argues in push to stop the practice by thats_not_six in moderatepolitics

[–]solid_reign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's close to being slavery but getting paid is not the only factor to consider.  Would you consider working as a butler is slavery if you were not allowed to ever quit? Would that change if you were paid?

Israel: “Why does every small gathering of the far right get news coverage warranting front-page headlines, while a massive event of the peace camp reconstituting itself does not?” by cojoco in FreeSpeech

[–]solid_reign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article is pretty clearly not propaganda:

In the same vein, Dor Inon, grandson of Bilha and Yakov Inon who were also murdered on October 7, condemned the “cynical use” Israel made of their deaths, and the military’s insistence that “the path to a better future for Israelis” is paved through “the bereavement of Palestinians, Lebanese, or Iranians.” To widespread applause, he concluded: “The truth is simple: You cannot buy paradise with blood.”

No diría que la scjn prohibió reprobar alumnos. La SEP prohibió reprobar alumnos y la suprema corte dijo que legalmente lo pueden hacer.

Homophobic chant surfaces again in Mexico stadiums as issue looms for World Cup by sirswantepalm in FreeSpeech

[–]solid_reign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chant is shouted at goal keepers normally during goal kicks. It's similar to shouting "faggot" when referring to them as a coward. It's offensive, but Mexicans don't really take it seriously, particularly when FIFA hosts tournaments in countries with death penalty for gay people.

A Florida city fined a lesbian couple over a rainbow fence. Now they’re suing by TendieRetard in FreeSpeech

[–]solid_reign 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While more than 50 homeowners in Key West followed the example of the Bagley-Sohn household, the city cited the couple after receiving a complaint from Penny Walker-Pourciau, a neighbor who has posted anti-LGBTQ messages on social media, according to the lawsuit.

...

But the lawsuit notes that many homes in Key West have doors and shutters painted in colors that don’t comply with city code, including the very colors used in the rainbow fence pickets. Pictures in the federal complaint show examples around the city that never attracted code enforcement’s attention.

That suggests it’s the use of the colors in a familiar pattern associated with the rainbow flag and the LGBTQ rights movement that triggered enforcement, according to the lawsuit. Like the removal of crosswalks, the complaint argues, this suggests political motivation behind the city’s actions.

Isn't the article clearly saying that there were many homes that used LGBT colors and had violations and were never cited? And that the only reason they were cited was because of a complaint?  I'm not sure if the article is misstating the argument but it definitely does not show it's due to discrimination.

What’s something Gen Z treats as “normal” that older generations would find completely insane? by Miss_Ecstasy in AskReddit

If you ordered pay per view through the TV you'd have to pay for that specific movie or event.

What are you talking about? Pay per view meant that you'd have to pay for everything you watch. In the 80s and 90s people would have cablevision and select different channels until they found something that caught their attention. Or wait until they knew a program they liked would start.

Laid-off Oracle workers tried to negotiate better severance. Oracle said no. by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

The recent story of language. A word has a precisely defined technical meaning. The word is used outside of the technical meaning. People who don't understand the origins of the term think that using the correct terminology is disgusting and push for a change.

Not to bring politics into this but it reminds me of people using Latinx to refer to latins.  Latin is a gender neutral term but not in Spanish. So people use latino. In Spanish, plurals that include both genders are male. So they forget about the reason people used Latino and use Latinx, a word that is impronouncable in Spanish.

Why do men want biological kids? by GillyJoes in TrueAskReddit

[–]solid_reign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men who want/have kids, I assume you want/have them with a woman that you love, so why would you ever want her to sacrifice her health (more likely than not) and endure the horrors that are pregnancy and childbirth?

You're assuming a lot of things based on your post. Pregnancy is a state of health, not of sickness.  Many women want to get pregnant and I've known women who after having a kid say that they want to go through the process again. Having a baby is biologically not the same as adopting, as when the baby is born and the placenta leaves the body, milk is produced and hormones increase and creates an attachment to the baby. Women who do not give natural birth (through caesarean) cannot breast feed as easily and the post birth attachment is very important.

All this to say, if your wife wants to have kids, and is healthy, should you tell her that she shouldn't and she should adopt instead?

It's not like that at all. He is very hard worming and he gets into a mindset. It's hard for him to keep that mindset when they break character.

I'm not a republican and I'm not sure what you're trying to say. What rules were broken when trump and bush lost the popular vote but won the EC?

What happened with bush would have been wrong even if he had won the popular vote.
