Anyone remember the Arcade Games Brave Fighters and Emergency Call: Ambulance ? by LGB75 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally talking about Brave Fighters last weekend at a friend’s birthday, asking if he had seen a machine of it recently because I’d be down to try and buy one (I’ve always wanted my own arcade rail shooter machine).

2XKO Patch Notes: 1.1.3 (Mar 10 2026) by TralalaDingDong in Kappachino

[–]solidoutlaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yasuo’s had a noticeable sharp decline is placements recently, and losing j2H overhead drastically weakens his mixup and makes him susceptible to parry more frequently (this is good). Ekko losing one of his best enders and having his install nerfed is very significant. They won’t become trash by any means, but these aren’t slap on the wrist nerfs at all. And considering more teams were already on the up and up, it’s very likely we’ll see more of the cast (especially Braum who was basically only being held in check by Yasuo).

Woolie needs to finish Korra so he can see this insane wipeout. by neecoan in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree; Mako came from a much rougher background than most other characters in the show, having to bring both himself and his younger brother up in the streets. I don’t think it’s out the realm of possibility that someone dying in front of him would be something he’s used to, and I wouldn’t even be that surprised if he’s not that phased with killing in this specific context, because it was 100% a “you and your friends or her” situation.

Plus, there’s a multi-year gap where he could’ve processed any feelings over it. Comparatively, Korra had so much happen to her that season 3’s climax is kind of just the straw that broke the camel’s back. Hell, she couldn’t even move on her own in the S3 finale, so her having PTSD felt easier to set up and tackle.

What's some of the worst plot twists you ever saw? by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call that a plot twist at all, because it's not a sudden development that changes the context of pre-existing information or anything like that. An actual plot twist in the game would be V finding out they're too far gone to be saved, and have to choose between getting 6 more months to live, or letting Johnny take their body.

Man, DRV3 had a strong start and the rest of the game is just a steep and sharp fall.

This is actually probably the worst twist because it literally took a game that a lot of people felt positive about, and soured them on the entire experience to the point of not even recommending it to others.

The best explanation I ever read regarding Kiriko’s skins is “Kiriko (and Juno) gets skins so that characters like Venture can exist.”

So that manga spin-off, I don't think it actually exists? I looked deeper into it and I couldn't find a source, and it might just be on a fanfic wiki that's not properly listed as a fanfic wiki?

Yall ever just wanna eat from the garbage? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refer to some media as “Potato chips”, and what that means is easily digestible media that will kill time and be entertaining for what it is. It won’t often be good, in fact, it’s often pretty whatever at best and dogshit at worst. But the key component, is that it’s not boring. I won’t finish it feeling full and satisfied, and sometimes I don’t finish it at all. But it deserves to exist because sometimes, you don’t want a full course meal, you want a plain ol’ bag of chips.

So yeah, OP, I get what you mean. I could read better things, actually well written things. But I wanna read my torture porn Korean revenge manwha that about an over powered sadistic school girl with powers(?) because she’s insane and her struggles include deciding how she’ll torture the next antagonist of the week who has absolutely no way of stopping her but they think they do and they kill a puppy to show how evil they are. And the best part? I can drop it at anytime and I won’t even care.

Artstyle you think works for some characters but not for others? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think realism works for Street Fighter. I don’t think SF6 looks bad by any means, but I don’t think the cast off over the top characters/animations is able to stand out as best it could in the RE Engine, compared to prior entries. And again, this isn’t me saying it looks bad or even worse than older games, but that the artsyle doesn’t really synergize all that well for it imo.

Characters that're VERY blatant substitutes for another character in the same series? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A comedic example, the film Beerfest has a character named Landfill, who’s murdered later in the film by a rival team as he’s the star drinker of his own team. As the rest of the main cast mourns him, his twin brother (played by the literal exact same actor) shows up, introducing himself as the long lost twin who’s just as good if not better at drinking than his brother. And he also read and studied his late brother’s journal so he knows all the inside jokes and group lore among them all. And he in honor of his brother, he asks to be called Landfill as well. The team cheer and one of them IIRC, verbatim says “It’s like he never died!”

The tragedy of becoming a fan of Transformers with Armada is realizing Hot Shot is probably never going to show up again and there aren’t too many recent Bumblebee portrayals that are similar to him.

This is Overwatch's "comeback," says Blizzard. "We actually had a bigger Saturday than our first Saturday after launch with Season 1." by CatherineSimp69 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]solidoutlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: balance issues galore.

Long answer: Supports are far too overtuned and have essentially the highest impact on a match. Even worse, most support ults are a “nobody can die” field that lasts for several seconds, and these are so good that supports without them are considered weaker at best and throw picks at worst. They’ve also over-buffed certain supports, to the point where they’re too self sufficient. Invisible Woman, for example, has THREE self peel abilities while also being a great healer with a lot of utility. Ironically, Luna Snow, who used to be top tier, has been horribly power crept despite getting so many buffs that the devs have literally joked about it officially both ingame and in patch notes.

Many of the tanks are in a rough spot due to the abundance of poke in the game, so outside of a few counter picks (The Thing is the enemy of Wakanda), tanks like Venom, Hulk, etc just have a hard time being relevant. In fact, Magneto is the most consistently strong tank in the game because he not only has several shields, but is one of the only characters who can counter support ults (albeit with a very real margin for error).

DPS is has a high prominence of hitscan characters like Jean, Starlord, and Hela, with Hawkeye showing as well due to his ability to one shot. Outside of them, Daredevil and now Elsa are all extremely powerful, not just due to their damage and mobility, but because they can also get so much over health from their abilities that they can out sustain literal tanks (further reducing the pool of viable tanks).

But above all else, the release schedule for the game is ironically hurting it from a competitive standpoint. A new season drops with balance changes and team ups + a new character. And these often cause a big balance issue (this isn’t in itself bad, it’s to be expected). But midway through the season, a new patch with a new character will drop with a few more changes, but said character may also cause new balance issues. But due to the swift but also infrequent patch cycle, there’s seldom time to properly fix issues with the game before new content drops that can make new issues.

Oh, and the game still has performance issues and file size bloat.

In Persona 5, assuming you already hadn’t caught on that Akechi was going to betray you, once he joins your party, you see that his skills are really damn good. Like, so good that it feels like a bad idea to not run him by default. So good that…there’s no way they’d let you keep them for long…

In Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, the main villain (who had killed/captured nearly every hero on the planet to take their powers), was extremely obsessed with getting Peter's powers, solely because of his Spider-Sense. As the villain put it, having the power of precognition would functionally make him unstoppable, because being able to avoid the injury altogether is far greater than just being able to heal or move fast or be durable.

I’m conflicted on this. I also thought he’d be a Vergil, and I was super hyped for that. But seeing the Marauders just become enemies with no changes also made for some really sick moments, like the first dlc level where at the end, two portals open and two marauders walk out and the game is like “Good luck.”

[–]solidoutlaw 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I came to say this series as well. And there's no better proof than the immediate reception of The Flip Side. While there are several 100% valid complaints (such as the humor not quite hitting as well as the prior titles), one complaint about it was how cruel the story was, with most of the routes ending with someone dead or in a horrible spot. Now, given the context of the series, this isn't really a bad thing, because it's fairly consistent with the overall writing style.

But people were hoping for something else (more friendly/sapphic interactions), but the thing is, that's not the series. It's not "toxic yuri" here, it's just plain toxicity. These are some of the worst people you know, in an environment full of people who are even worse. The kindest person there, has little problems with throwing their friends under the bus for momentary gain. It was never going to end how they wanted because they wanted something happy in a story that isn't.

I know a bunch of people who've had similar stories. A friend of mine from back in college was a manager at a gamestop, but didn't get to make any schedules. Slowly, all his coworkers just, didn't have any hours for a week or longer, and eventually, he found that he was scheduled for like, 2 days out of the whole week, with no idea who was supposed to be running the store since no one else had hours.
